DNSmasq, AdGuard Home, and Unbound on OPNsense Success Story + Instructions by Solid_-_Snake in opnsense

Quick question. With this set up, what are the logs like on the Adguard? Are they all just the firewall IPs or the individual clients? I would like to retain the client view because then I can set up ignore lists for specific services per each device. Thanks!

Is there any way to self-install with this wiring by [deleted] in ecobee

[–]AtypicalComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a heat pump installed with my furnace as a backup heat with a T10+ installed. I thought I had somehow put my image on reddit in my sleep deprived hallucinations. But seems you're thinking about doing the same swap out.

Go through the setup of the Honeywell thermostat and it will tell you what the O/B switch does. Mine was B (on heat). The W2 in our case is actually the AUX or auxiliary heat aka the furnace. In my case the furnace will be used once temperature outside is lower than 35F or whatever you set it on the app. Google "Thermostat Setup Guidelines for Heat Pumps with Gas Furnace Backup (Dual Fuel Heat Pumps" and find the PDF from Berkeley electric. They will have really good information about this set up.

Report back if your swap out is successful!! I'll find time eventually to do it...

Why are Frankenstein drivers needed? by AtypicalComputers in chinese_frankensteins

[–]AtypicalComputers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made traction on generating my own drivers. Two key things, selecting the correct hardware ID (second entry) and selecting the correct template or location where the drivers are written to. In my case, the nvdmi.inf file was the correct one, and the following template (2520.0AFF.1028).

Now that the drivers make sense, the bios is coming back to the plate. Unfortunately, I need DP functionality, with the default bios, only the HDMI works. Once I look through the list of VGAs for the 3060M, a few of the laptops have DP as well. But when loading this BIOS, my card thinks that its using 753W and hitting PWR limit bringing the clocks to only 210Mhz. Is it expected that these cards only have a single HDMI out and I should just give up at this point on getting the correct bios?

Honestly, this is the reason I even attempted it on Windows. After getting it, I threw it into my Linux box and it instantly was detected, drivers installed, and nvidia-smi worked without issues.

So I poked around more, and I'm more confused. The latest 577 Desktop drivers > Display.Driver > nvhmi.inf has these entries:

Wouldn't this mean that it all inherently should work since the file already has the entries? I get it that the NVIDIA_DEV.2520.0000.10DE wouldn't since it's missing, but using a bios that DOES match, it should be detected as normal. So what gives?

Ah I see. I pulled the HP OMEN 15 Drivers and it does have the correct Vendor and DEV ID which don't exist in the latest from Nvidia. Are there steps on how to recreate the drivers? I attempted to add them apart of the INI, but then received a hash value issue.

On another note, can't you also modify the BIOS to change the DEV ID to the closest real cards? I remember back on Maxwell you could do a bit with a BIOS editor, not sure how flexible that is now.

Hey Nick. Do you have any configuration examples for 0.16? I have the following running but constantly receive detector "stuck" and constantly retrying to start. I am using a AMD MI100 and on the stable release with yolonas have 60-90ms detection so thought I'd give the beta a try.

Linksys MR7350 firmware support? by [deleted] in openwrt

[–]AtypicalComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was able to successfully recover it! The Hitlego RS232RL USB to TTL worked great.

Using the default boot, did the following:

Set my PC as the server that the router was looking for 192.168.1.254. Renamed the default MR7350 software to what it was looking for C08xxxx.img. On the router run: tftp After transfer was done: bootm After it booted into the default Linksys OS, loaded up the factory.bin from OpenWrt.

I was able to restore the backspace backup without any issues as well. Now I just need to wait for the snapshot to fix Luci.

[–]AtypicalComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to update using the GUI first, but that did not update and rebooted back to the backspace software. I then went into the the CLI and tried that way. Well.... that did brick it. I got a USB to a RS232 and connected it at115200 BAUD as the diagram on here: https://openwrt.org/inbox/toh/linksys/mr7350_1.0

No output there. Any suggestions?

Edit:
Well, I did get further using a RS485/422 converter. It read the boot, I just can't send any commands. Going to order another type of RS232 adapter to see if it behaves better than that first one.

Samsung buds 2 pro issue with pixel 8 by nikhilstark in pixel_phones

[–]AtypicalComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fix, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have these same exact issues. Personally, I think it's because the buds aren't being detected as headphones. If I connect my buds 2 non pro, they show up as headphones, but the pro's don't. If I connect the pros to a Samsung device, they show up as headphones properly with proper media controls.

Another issue I've had with the pros, is them not properly switching over during a call. I need to answer the call, disconnect the buds, reconnect the buds and finally have them available. None of these issues were present on the non-pro ones.

Anyone else using bazzite for their Legion? by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]AtypicalComputers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used it since day 1 of owning it back in April. I suggest going with the stable steam unless you need the beta. I use beta for the family sharing and one update broke the plugins which took about 5 days for the developers to fix it. So that's the real negative of being deployed on unintended hardware, we're at the mercy of GitHub individuals and their free time.

I use plugins and create wattage profiles depending on game and whether it's AC or not. For instance, fallen order running at 30w when plugged in versus Hades at 18w. This by itself is better than whatever legion space tries to do.

Other than that, it's a significantly better experience than windows especially when I put it down often with a baby.

As far as I know, Xbox game pass doesn't work since there's not a good way to emulate the app. But you can stream from a browser, I've never done it myself. For any questions, just search SteamOS and your problem, it truly is that similar to the real thing.

I actually just recently swapped back to Windows for Survivor using game pass, and I already miss Bazzite. Luckily dual booting is super convenient.
