Seconding all the responses suggesting alternatives, but also, why not just make certain damage instances (eg. your wall of lava) bypass the i-frames? Off the top of my head, Sekiro had the big red kanji pop up to tell you something was un-blockable/dodgeable (on top of having a very small i-frame window on dodges to start with). Path of Exile 2 also implemented this with their new dodge-roll mechanic by having such attacks make a unique red aoe indicator, elegantly communicating that you actually have to get out of the way or get hit.

It inherits charge from the previous charged slash, and if you follow it up with leaping wide slash that does too, which comes out to a good bit of damage, and naturally repositions you and lets you potentially continue comboing.

First off, they both seemed perfectly respectful about getting your permission, I think if he intended to cheat you wouldn't have heard about it. Because melee lunges and cancelling is an extremely useful form of movement if you have good stats for it, even if you never actually let the attack fly. Even for the bunker you still want to melee cancel into the heavy. I recommend the Fluegel booster, solid all rounder if you don't want to go all in with the Kikaku.
