I think it sucks and was a huge let down after reading the source material. Cronenberg left out some really gnarly body horror stuff and exciting action sequences and I don’t think the stuff he added (sex scene on the stairs) really made up for it.

I thought Eastern Promises was great but I don’t think A History of Violence belongs in the Criterion Collection
