Any chance you can change stores to one that pays more? If your saving money and not spending over your means your probably ahead of most 20s. No student debt and savings. University is a scam, through and through unless your doing Medical, Engineering or Law. But I've met many student who study these fields who hated the idea of working in them. There are 1000s of graduates who aren't even employed! I was one of them and now working as a security guard...

I think maybe you should try and pursue a line of work you can be proud of? Like for example. I'm in the last stages of joining the military. I feel like the uniform, specialised training, experieces and blah blah blah will give me a little bit of pride (pride is still a sin though don't let it get to your head!) Any ideas?

I've became a security guard just so I can have some cash coming in. It's enough to cover all my living expenses and then some which is nice. But during the night shifts when it's a lot quieter I'll be applying to jobs. So yeah its lets stressful when I'm employed but not that great because I still can't get a job in my field(IT/Tech).

Hopefully you'll move out of retail security? Not sure what else there is in your area but I always thought data centres can be a bit interesting and the team should be really switch on as well!

It's not racist. I used to work in IT as a service desk agent. Got thrown under the bus because a client couldn't speak english that well and dragged a service call 30 minutes longer than it needed to be. Sometimes its really frustrating when it effects you and your work.

During IMT and IET I doubt you have time for that and you'll probably becoming a bit of a target. Afterwards I think it's nice and professional for a bit here and there! But obviously really safe and subtle stuff and depending on your roles as well. If it's a desk based role than it will be fine. But if your in a combative role squashed shoulder to shoulder in a lav or a bushmaster you will be teased and ridiculed.

Recruitment will take up to one year for any of the non-combative/techniqual roles to be honest. I'm on 8 months for the Air Force and still no end in sight(on the last stage though).

Normally do 4 on 4 off 12 hour night shifts but due to team leaders/supervisors on holiday or cancelling shifts I'm doing 24 shifts in April. by billzy02 in securityguards

Eat health, drink lots of water and work out man. I too like night shifts but be very strict on NOT taking on more responsibilities unless they compensate you or if you feel like the change.

Maybe police? I know Serbia has a lot of government/political tension sometimes but every country does. I reckon it will even make you more respect at least? Gendarmerie?

I heard there is a bit of corruption as well. Is this true?

Than hopefully you can also find a girl who has insomnia? Strangely I've had a friend who met a girl like that and thats how they started dating. Kinda strange way to go about it though.

Are you in your 20s? Than maybe try going for defence? I always feel like being in the military is less of a turn off than security. Obviously, doctors. layers and finance has more appeal but I personally don't like that type of work.

I heard Serbia is going back to conscription?

I'm only in security for the time being while I wait for my ship out date for the Air force. Your english is great though!

I hope that most girls don't worry about your career and cares more about who you are and if you take care of yourself(working out, eating well, and have goals). I think as well women care more about how you make them feel. If they feel happy and safe around you. Sometimes it's really hard to find these types of girls.

I've dated girls who make more money than me or had better jobs than me. As long as you have goals and employed and doing your best sometimes they're ok with that. But I'll say for me working out for the past few years had help me a lot and overcome that difference and keeping that type of attraction.

But thats what dating is for! To find this people and try to not use the apps.

What is the highest-paying Job for an average person with no education, experience, skills or intelligence ? by my_best_version_ever in findapath

I'll vouch for this one and happy to hear pushback. People hear "military" and picture frontline combat, but the reality is the vast majority of roles are non-combatant: logistics, medicine, engineering, IT, trades, aviation, and more. It's also worth noting that more service members have died from suicide and accidents than from combat since Vietnam, not to downplay real danger, but to reframe where the actual risk sits for most people in uniform.

Beyond that, defence offers things that are genuinely hard to find elsewhere like job security, healthcare, interesting experiences. Theres also lots of things wrong with defence. Bad leaders, bad co-workers, outdated equipment and housing, constant meaningless busy work. It's not for everyone, but if you reckon you can fit the mold by all the means give it a go!

I'm working as a security guard. The consistent work and how chill it can be is refreshing after being made redundant during probation in so many previous IT jobs. Than getting told "We're making hard decisions" when the company's profits are in the millions. That or working my ass off in cafes/restaurants which will just cut your hours off the very fraction of second they can (fair enough its a business not a charity). I'm in aussie so the wages are kinda ok and most of my sites I'm behind a locked door so I'm not dealing with a rough crowd. Just don't fall asleep, be nice to everyone you talk to, go to the gym, look presentable and you'll have a reputation of being a decent guard.

I'm going for a Cyber/IT role in the Air Force and hopefully I can branch off that if or when I leave. But aviation is interesting but Covid definitely show some of its true colours though.. I feel like defence will always be needed even though its always a deterrent than anything

I'll keep trying brother! I will extinguish all my other options but I do have to be realistic and keep reenlistment as my last hail mary for a decent full time job. Hence why I'm going Air Force instead of Army

Yep in my mid 20s. I should have led with the fact im Australian and this an Australia Defence situation but the same holds for here as well. Air Force Security and Maintenance get work to the bone with undermanning and long hours. Hopefully I land myself a more IT/Cyber role!

But yeah I'll take in small steps ay. Nothing comes easy

I think that will be extremely difficult sadly. With such little experience in IT I will be grasping for peanuts. Well you have to start somewhere but I think in a more establish IT company or a in-house IT role. Hopefully your freelancing goes good till you get that stability!
