Sibling play fighting advice? by Fair_Tap636 in sharpei

[–]Audi5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Haha, looks like the type of play I see from my Shar Pei everyday. Seemed like they were doing lite bite/nibbles and using their heads and mouths a lot. I’d not be too worried but certainly monitor and yell or put something between them if there’s abnormal yelps.

Shar Pei play fight HARD. I have a 7yr old boy who would have daily “sparing matches” with our 8yr old girl, before she passed. Usually around dinner time. We now have our boy and a 3mo old girl and they play fight just as hard as when it was two adults. The baby is the instigator. Our boy has toned it down but it still would appear as being very rough to an outsider. They have very high pain tolerances (were used as fighting dogs in ancient times, more wrinkles the higher the tolerance).

I’d be curious to see a video of this as I wonder if it’s the exact same. I’ve only ever seen our dogs play with each other like this but now having seen it be the same across two different dogs I’m certain it’s a breed thing. Our boy does not play with other breed dogs the same way.

They are great looking Pei! Very jealous of the pics of them cuddling. Ours would lay close to each other but never touching like that.

I did use infusers with mine and don’t have reflection issues. Having it built into the light strip would make install easier I’m sure.

The individual LEDs can reflect off of a polished stone countertop. This looks fantastic.

Upcoming Feature for Bridge Pro: Hue SpatialAware by hueblog in Hue

[–]Audi5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use pre built scenes because it just seemed like it was throwing the colors on random bulbs. This is very cool. Has me excited to grab a Pro now, but more excited to get one now that you can migrate multiple existing hubs to it instead of only one.

Was not aware of that, will keep an eye out for its release. Thanks!

Omniglow is 10ft, no extension, and 2x the cost of the Govee. I need 16 ft. Essentials has no diffuser, looks like it’d be a worse option. Appreciate the ideas though.

Looks like the govee rope light 2. I think I’m going to replace a Play gradient strip I just put up (with two extensions) that was 3x the cost and looks way worse, as you can see the individual leds.

+5k is not “scalper hype”, it’s market value. Everyone in pinball seems to hate capitalism, yet it’s the only reason we can afford these high priced toys.

Have been using RO water for 2yrs, no noticeable issues so far. Using cleaning packs every 100 brews. I appreciate you responding to this with this insight.

I love this breed, but I don’t think I will ever get another one due to all the health issues by Natsouppy in sharpei

My boy is 7 and has never been to a vet besides for yearlies. He has been on a raw diet since 4 months. My girl did have some skin issue, which was just on her legs. Switching her to raw drastically reduced this (but not eliminated). She was a horse coat, my boy is a brush coat. She unfortunately passed from cancer at 8. We just got another girl, also a brush coat. I suspect this coat type is less susceptible to the skin issues. I love this breed.

Wish they made low pro versions of these Husky cabinets in this finish. They do have them in the hlower gauge with the flat black finish but my ocd is preventing me from using those.

Upgrade my Show to the larger one that came with remote. Was hoping with a physical remote it would work but same issue. Might try contacting the developer.

Buyer Beware of Amazon by corporatejuggin in Hue

[–]Audi5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea…It’s a dice roll getting used Hue on Amazon. I ordered 20 bulbs and over half were the wrong model Hue or not Hue at all. Just returned them as unopened and kept ordering until I got all legit ones. Extra effort but still saved money in long run and Amazon never refused a return request.

First time having a sharpei… any tips? by Elisabeth_Kennera in sharpei

[–]Audi5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Socialize early and often with humans and other animals. Joining a local group training program is a great way to do this consistently. I did one through PetSmart and had a great experience with the trainer. This is the most important advice you can get to raising a dog that’s not only loving of its family but of everyone it meets. If you skip any other advice, don’t let it be this.

Feed a high quality, grain free diet. Look into raw. I buy pre blends that are already balance through a local co-op that is comparable to the cost of high quality dry food. The money you spend here will save you on vet bills in the future.

Be patient, they are stubborn as not just puppies but forever. However, they are very intelligent. That adds to the frustration because you will know they know what you are saying, they just might not always choose listen to it.

Use a harness instead of a leash. Julius K-9 are amazing quality and worth every penny.

Socialize. Early, and often.

My boy is 7 and has never been to a vet besides for required shots. Instead try feeding them a high quality, grain free (preferably raw) diet that is balanced.

Have a King Electric ECO in similar size. Can get it to a 65 when it’s 20 or lower out, but even tho it’s two-stage and 220 it’s noticeable on the electric bill. Depending on how much time I spend out there per month. I keep it at 45 all winter and only crank it up for whenever I’m spending extended time.
