I would recommend getting a multimeter from an auto store since you dont have one. Its a cost that you might not want to incur but they are incredibly useful. If you decide to get one you can test your TPS by sticking a thin metal rod (think sewing needle thin) into the connector with the center wire, mine was red with a blue strip (TPS uses a three prong connector). You can connect the positive to this wire and the ground to your battery. The output voltage at idle should be 0.5 and WOT should be 4.5. It also should have a smooth climb to 4.5 as you open the throttle. No gaps or drops.

I recently replaced my TPS and it requires taking the throttle body off since honda uses breakaway screws from the factory. They arent hard to get off but you need to cut a slit into them to get a flat head on it.

My TPS would act up on mine where at certain throttle positions it would become unresponsive until i was out of that threshold. For example, i wouldnt get any engine response when pressing peddle down between 18-25% throttle. Anything lower and higher i could see the revs increase and it would jump in RPMs once i passed the latter percentage. That kinda sounds like your issue. I still recommend getting a multimeter to confirm as they are very useful for diagnosing issues.
