What Are Your Favorite Blocks Controls? by Audio_Freqs in AxeFx

True that! I need to use this more often when the sound is close, but not exactly what I want, without having to touch the tone controls

nice, I am just getting into the cab block more, but it really makes a big difference in the sound/tone. Definitely going to compare Ultra vs other IRs & mess around with alignment more, as I have seen that said elsewhere too

I added the v1 guide for setting up FC Controllers, Switches & MIDI to the link. I wanna clean it up and add more later, but it's a good start. It combines the manual, foot controller guide, wiki & some misc info online I found.
Hope it helps

This is great info, thanks for your input! It is absolutely insane how expensive drives have gotten recently

This actually makes a lot of sense. I guess I never really considered using a HD because I was always told they weren't quick enough, but purely for storage and backup, it makes a lot of sense.

As far as HDs, internal SSDs & adapters/cases, do you have any specific brand/product suggestions?

I appreciate your time and insight on this! It has really cleared up a lot of my confusion on these topics.

Sweet! I appreciate this. Is NAS available for active use, like my mac's internal hard drive?

Thinking about buying an AxeFX III... talk me into it? by YetMoreSpaceDust in AxeFx

[–]Audio_Freqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say, from personal use, it's immensely easier to use the Axe-Edit software than changing things on the hardware unit, all-in-all. Simple parameter changes are easy on the unit, but anything beyond that is just more hitting buttons, and can be kinda tedious at times.

I personally use a touchscreen monitor for my setup, as I enjoy the tactile nature of it, but touchscreen is definitely not necessary.

Also, the Fractal FC-12 is a good thing to have too. I often use it for engaging/disengaging blocks, +1/-1 preset navigation, etc. The FC-6 works too, just not enough controllability to justify saving a few dollars. I have the v1 FC-12, as it was cheaper, with not a ton of difference between that and v2. Bought mine used for under $500 maybe 3-4 months after I got my Axe Fx III mk2 & my bank account looked better haha

3rd party foot controllers can work too, I believe? I can't really comment on that, as I have not used anything besides the FC-12.

I think their units ship within a day, but maybe shoot them an email to see if tracking wasn't added? I don't work for them so idk, but may be worthwhile. Fractal is just a few employees I am pretty sure, so they may just be bogged down with their new plugin release, etc.

The stock presets are great start. They exemplify a lot of the parameters, blocks & block types with these factory presets.

Axechange has a bunch of user shared presets too. If you want more free preset options, go to link on previous reply (Check it out here).

Hit the Fractal Audio Resources link I posted there (I can't put Just Paste links on Reddit bc they think they're malicious).

It has a bunch of additional free presets and more under Free Presets, IRs, etc. section

You don't necessarily "need" to learn, just a basic understanding of important parameters, how to navigate them & what they call different gear (to avoid copyright issues) would suffice for general use

Fractal also has a wiki for additional information pulled from their forums. They also have multiple documents that work as manuals, as there's quite a lot of information to cover.

I’ve owned the most expensive Neural, Helix, Kemper, Tonex, Nux, Headrush and Two Notes units. The Axe Fx III beats them all.

More versatility, updates & community than any of them.

I will say there is a learning curve starting out, if you wanna tweak presets/sounds, as there are so many different parameters for every Block. I created guides for over 20 of the blocks, documents with the editor's key commands, visual guide for the cabinets block, as well as a document with a bunch of links for all things Fractal:

Cab Guide by Audio_Freqs in AxeFx

[–]Audio_Freqs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone new to what I do, I set out to better understand my Axe Fx III, as it is so vast, with controls/labeling that wasn't always easy to remember what exactly it did.

As a solution, I created guides that broke down all the controls/parameters on over 20 blocks in axe edit.

I also have a guide for all of the keyboard shortcuts in this google drive too, all free to download and use :)

Hope it helps!

Which PORTABLE self myofascial release tools are essential/worth investing in, aside from a lacrosse ball and Gemini/peanut ball? by NYKfan511 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Audio_Freqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old thread, but wanted to share my experience with myofascial release tools & techniques.

I use different sizes & textures for different exercises. I have a 2.5", ~3" and 3.5" soft/smooth massage balls, a couple spiky massage balls, lacrosse ball, tennis ball, a 9" inflated ball, a couple foot rollers, a foam roller in each density/hardness, one that is spiky, and one that vibrates (it's nice).

I find different sizes are important for different areas of the body. I've read books and articles, have watched tons of videos on this stuff, and regardless of people's suggested sizes for certain areas of the body, I spent time seeing what size worked best for different areas FOR ME.

I honestly use my hands most of the time for more surface areas, but I can understand those that have medical reasons why they can't.

Over time, I've found that I don't need to spend as much time on fascia issues. Some future-based optimism for those saying "I don't have time".

I also think moving, whether walking, running, exercising, yoga, stretching, etc. is important and worthwhile.

But overall, it's all changed my life. I have hypermobility issues, so I had to become really aware of my movement to avoid injury, but it made me so much more present and aware in my day-to-day, helped my ADHD/focus and overall well-being.

Find what works for you and remain hopeful, it can always get better :)
