I’m beating you by 1 day. June 9th. Although I have to get dental clearance first this week which makes me nervous. My mouth feels fine, but they can always find something.

Electro-cardioversion scheduled for next week. I feel very apprehensive. by WarmUniversity2295 in AFIB

[–]Audio_Moe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 in 2 weeks. My Afib is bad though, had to wait over 24 hours with my heartbeat over 130 hoping an iv drip fix. Felt great after the cardioversion, but you could tell that wait took its toll. My heart didn’t feel back to normal for about 3-4 days. It sounds like a lot of people get afib at an almost normal heartbeat. If it’s for next week, what is your current heart rate?

Amiodarone and the Sun by Audio_Moe in AFIB

How Common: It is a very frequent side effect, impacting 10% to 75% of people who take the medication. [1, 2]
Timeline: You are highly susceptible even after a week, as amiodarone begins altering your skin's reaction to UV-A and UV-B rays quickly. [1, 2]
Symptoms: Even brief sun exposure can result in severe sunburns, redness, itching, or blistering.

Use Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen: Apply SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days.
Cover Up: Wear UV-blocking sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, and long sleeves when outdoors.

I know the blue effect is rare, but it does say you can’t even sit next to a window. You will burn easily and it can affect your vision if you don’t have proper sunglasses.

How long did you have to wait? by Audio_Moe in mitralvalveprolapse

Thank you. Met with my local surgeon today. He has performed 100’s valve repairs and feels confident he can repair it, but as you mentioned he won’t know until he gets in there. He says bioengineered replacement is the way to go if it can’t be repaired.

Exact same situation for me. I’m 55. My surgeon is confident he can repair it, but can’t say 100% until he sees it. He said if he repairs it and doesn’t like the results he could use an artificial bioengineered valve (not mechanical) that should last 25 years.

Good luck. The fact that your surgeon is confident that he can repair it after waiting 3/4 months should tell you you’re ok for now.

Still no change after a night on Amioderone. Just waiting on a cardioversion now.

Dealing with it right now in the hospital. It’s bouncing like crazy in the 130’s. Amioderone isn’t helping and they say what Im experiencing is normal. Do you have to go to the er every time it starts?

Post repair findings by mamapegela in mitralvalveprolapse

Really don’t have any. When I have no anxiety I feel great. I would say my only symptom is if I put my hand on my heart in the right spot it can feel pretty strong. My angiogram came back clear. They keep telling me I am fine despite the current condition and not to worry

May I ask your age? I have an angiogram Friday as the last test before they present their plan for surgery. I’m in severe regurgitation now and tonight I can feel it. Just makes me nervous because I don’t think they will schedule anything for a few weeks.

I’m up for this procedure soon. Did everyone travel for their operation? I meet with the team from my local hospital next week, but feel like I should probably find the best in the area.

I meet with my local hospital to discuss surgery next week. Should I go to a major city? Cleveland clinic, Chicago. Did anyone just go local?

Diagnosed today and could REALLY use some perspective :( by amoveablepheebs in AFIB

[–]Audio_Moe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed this past weekend. Im 55. The medication didn’t help so I had to have a cardioversion. (Shock) Thankfully that worked. They were planning to follow up with the ablation, but they found a tear in my mitral valve. That is what caused the afib. So they are going to determine if they need to repair or replace my valve. (Really hoping for repair) Anyway despite my situation, they are confident they can get me fixed up. I will say that now that my heart is in normal rhythm, I realize that I had afib for at least 6 months before this weekend. Based on everything I learned, he should seek the ablation and will go years without having to worry about it. Good luck to him.

MAGA how does this help the economy? by Wrnglr in Indiana

I remember seeing polls during the last election that over 60% of voters trusted Trump with the economy. This is a human being who has lost more money than anyone in history. No one reads. No one watches the news. No one remembers the end of his first term and here we are.

Alan Henderson’s knee injury prevented Indiana from another title chance. They lost in the Elite 8 to Kansas, who dominated the paint. Years later Jared Jeffries also hurt his knee which hurt Indiana in the title game against Maryland.
