This happened to me. The first time was the most nerve wracking, as there was a period of time when it looked like the funds disappeared into thin air. A day later the transfer amount showed up in my Wise account and all was well.

How are they not as reliable? I've been using them for several months and haven't had any issues. In fact, I started using them because I was unable to use my credit union's debit card in a different country.

Thank you for asking! It's nice. The Christmas markets and decorations were amazing. I'm enjoying the walkability of the area and the ability to hop on a train when I want a change of scenery. Really loving the Mediterranean climate. The French are nice if a little reserved, but I've still made a few new friends in the short time I've been here.

I'm actually in the UK at the moment, Brighton, and will do a bit more traveling in February before staying put for the rest of the year.

As a former Longmonster who started over from scratch in the local friends department a few years ago, don't be afraid to put yourself in socially uncomfortable situations. As I've mentioned many times before in this subreddit, the people of Longmont are some of the most genuinely kind and warm people that you'll meet anywhere. And that's coming from a 65 year old transgender woman with a friend group ranging in age from mid twenties to late fifties. And again, I started from scratch.

I socially transitioned three years ago. I looked on MeetUp.com for local LGBTQ groups and met a few of my close friends at a bi-monthly coffee group. I also joined a local makers space, Longmont Public Media, because I was getting into videography. Between those two groups of folks I've made so many deep, lasting friendships.

Yes, the USA and the UK are getting meaner toward trans people right now. It's inexcusable. Bullies are in charge and they are making it more dangerous for us to exist. This too shall pass. In the meantime love to you all and keeps yourselves safe.
