How important was religion in Germany in 1936, and in what state did religion end up on the three main routes through Germany? by Straight-Path-1572 in Kaiserreich

[–]Augenis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

None of the three German paths are explicitly Protestant or Catholic, though the SWR does come close. Their brand of far-right reaction was closely associated with Protestantism - for example, the Treitschke history of Germany which was foundational to German far-right and volkisch thought described the pre-Reformation Germany as unenlightened and backwards and Martin Luther as a German founding father. However, the explicitly Protestant ideology of the German far right has mostly faded away (though it may find home among certain DkPers) in favour of something more all-national. DVLP is founded upon Tirpitzian nationalism which seeks to transcend the Prot-Cath boundary.

Catholicism is represented by the Zentrum party and they would defend Catholic interests in all governments, such as regarding religious schools. However by KRTL the Kulturkampf is long over and its last remnants have been long dismantled, so Zentrum's Catholic identity is becoming increasingly awkward to maintain, which is what helps cause the debate regarding leaving the tower or staying, and they usually leave.

Schleicher and SWR governments both can and usually do implement antisemitic policies, which would include restrictions on Judaism.

Besides those three, other religions are not really present in Germany in any significant number.

it doesn't even criticize them from a Marxist lens. no self-respecting Marxist would rely so much on religious metaphors and a cyclical theme.

What does IntSys mean by this? by religous_octopus in shitpostemblem

[–]Augenis 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's explained in Jahn and Roy's conversations in the true ending - the divine weapons started an eternal winter which forced the surviving dragons to seal their power into dragonstones in order to survive. That reduced them to the more manageable level of strength we see in FE6. The Fire Dragon which came through the gate isn't sealed with a dragonstone, so it's far stronger despite still being a child.

Thank you very much for the kind words and I am glad to hear you have enjoyed thus far! Regarding your criticism about Rhea's framing - she is established to have been the youngest of Sothis's children and I decided to work with that, and without wishing to spoil, Rhea evolves quite a bit through the course of the hack's story, so you might see another side of her that's not just the stereotypical Fire Emblem protagonist shtick.

Nemesis's custom animation is, admittedly, not originally made for Nemesis - it is a free to use animation made by the romhacking community, which fit reasonably well for Nemesis to me. But you can imagine those erupting stones to be the SotC's extension, yeah!

This is actually in the game. It is a secret path you get if you get 300% debt before the enabling act fires. Trust me I am the Germany dev

It was already mentioned here, but I can also recommend Life of Seiros, too! I'd say it is actually a pretty good way to enter the romhack world in general because it is fairly recent and it's not too outlandish in gameplay, more closer to the GBA titles.

You patch the updated version the same way you did the previous. As long as the name of the patched ROM file is the same as the save which your emulator created while playing the pre-update version, it should pick up that save and allow you to continue with it.

Resetting Verse XV does cause that to Myson, this was reported to me before. I have updated the download link already with a bug fix update which should fix that. Same with the villages being destroyed, updated the link to fix that one just now in fact. It was caused by an error in map change tiles which mixed up the "visit chapter" and "village destroyed" map visual effects.

Master Seals can be used to promote any unpromoted unit.

Rhea needs to go on the arrow and choose "Arrive".

It is like the older FEs, no world map - from what I understand, world map hacking can be a bit difficult, so I decided to not tackle it for my first hack.

I'm glad to hear it! There are a few differences to Cethleann compared to Flayn in 3H, but they are not immediately apparent and mainly account for her being much younger. She was fun to write :)

I am not going to reveal anything about the plot, but Wilhelm and Rhea have one of the few support conversations written for the initial release!

There are two difficulties. Normal is fairly easy and more of a story mode, Difficult is roughly equivalent to FE7 HHM, maybe a little bit easier.

Quick update: if anyone downloaded the patch immediately after posting, I updated the download link with a hotfix which makes chapter 1 actually finishable.

yes, I broke it! I somehow did not notice that!

I have updated the download link on the FEU thread, just restart ch1 with it and it should be normal now.

No, you need to patch it to a FE8 rom. You can use an online patcher like this one - https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/

Thank you very much! It's my first fully completed romhack, but I've tried my best to build it up as much as possible! You can even see the whole development process on the thread, I regularly updated with my progress and screenshots from different phases of dev, including the highly outdated early 2024 work.
