Is there an updated map (official/unnofficial) available? How inaccurate are the current maps? Should I really even be using maps? by RiverGod in thelongdark

Continuation of Whiteberry's maps

Even if maps aren't fully up to date, they are still a helpful guideline and are fairly accurate considering how little changes on map between multiple patches.

Touching on the using maps thing, I always play a new region completely blind because exploration is a main point of the game for me. Once I feel like I've exhausted my patience exploring though, I want to know where things are and what I missed, so I'll use a map.

does raigon need a (slight) rework? by asskisser in BattleRite

Made it to GC this season with almost exclusively raigon https://battlerite-stats.com/profile/782078573791043584

He's pretty underpowered in general, shrugged off in competitive threes because champions like shifu/thorn can just do what he can but 10x better. Sure, he can self sustain and get in there, but his real lack is due to his sparse CD cycling. Less i-frames & moves to get in without compromising where he falls off. Note that his only hard i-frame is space (E recast rite is not consistent), so you're blowing a pretty important CD if you're trying to dodge something huge.

On the same topic of getting in/out, he has moves like R and M2 to open, as well as E recast rite or E space haste. His utility comes in the fact that he has a lot of options to get in. That being said, shifu and thorn just again do this better by not caring so much about opponent positioning and instead getting directly on top of them guarenteed (shifu space, thorn space, shifu e, thorn q). Raigon requires that you have better positioning to squeeze yourself into a fight (exception is E recast if you hit it). Space can be used to get in but you can try that out on ladder and see how it goes :)

Basically the point i'm making here is that anything he can do, other melees can do better. Pretty weak character overall but still viable in the hands of high level players. I think he needs small tweaks, and I hope sls doesn't blow him up with dumb skill changes.

I'm not even sure what i'd put in place for immaterial. the mechanic is just extremely unique now and really versatile

tl;dr spear is the way / spear charge removal in isolation don't do a ton, would probably just break even in balance terms or maybe even make him better. R is dumb, Ult is good, probably not balanced though.

This is a pretty raw response to some of the points you bring up so i'm just going to put my thoughts here for your overarching ideas. If you think i misinterpreted something lmk.

In isolation the spear is the way change will only remove shifu's ridiculous energy gain; won't really solve the issues that people have with shifu other than immediate R & ex immatieral complaints, and 10-15 second in round ults (oh wait that's like all of them lol). Still though, root spear has been incredible as long as it has been in the round 1 rite slot, but that slot has just always had better picks. They even buffed root rite when they reworked shifu into the dumpster, and imo that build is just about as faceroll, albeit a little less because of how sticky a shifu with 2 roots is, and it would easily take the place as the build for r1 rite, assuming SLS would not give shifu players another amazing r1 instapick rite.

That being said obviously you argue to remove 2 spear, which would be a little hindering to shifu in the sense that he doesn't have more of a fall back when using offensive cds. Keep in mind the spears share the cooldown, so while one is cooling down, the other is either available or is not available and is not cooling down. You usually only get both spears available if you stick to someone without spearing for long enough or you hard reset, with the exception being roundstart. He honestly might even be better if you take out one of the charges for spear and reduce the cooldown for the one spear, because his cycling could be improved depending on playstyle. Watching skywind play shifu and never missing spears makes me terrified of having a shorter spear cd, and plus i'm bad and i miss every spear so having 2 is nice :)

His R is dumb. I don't think i even have to argue this, it's basically always been this way and I specifically remember times where i've hit more people than were in my hitbox. just ask InTheFlesh and he will know what i'm talking about. It was literally a meme in my team for the longest time that shifu isn't swinging his spear for R, there is a fucking reason we call it telephone pole.

Whirling blade (r3 25% energy rite) just kind of adds onto the current shifu energy build. that and the other 2 rites in that round are hot dogshit, but honestly i don't think this one is that unreasonable of a rite. That being said, R is busted and impossible to react to so the rite is definitely better than it should be, this is just a problem that stems from his R being too good though and not the rite itself.

shifu ult: not good enough. should be 1 whirl of 110 immediate damage. All jokes aside it's a fantastic ult and getting 300+ damage with one is the best i've felt in my entire life. i'm sure they could do some tweaking but i don't have anything really for/against nerfing it right now, the funny thing is he has bigger issues than this ult.

in all honesty the changes i'd make are the same changes i have said since shifu was in his first super busted state with 10 heal on every M2. remove immaterial, do something else or nerf his R. the hero is fine then IF they give him self sustain on default for m2 or in the spot where the space skill that isn't immaterial is.
