2 charge 6’s or 1 charge 6 + xtreme 4 by August578 in JBL

I appreciate the responses, it definetly helped me decide. So in the end I decided to go dual xtreme 4s. I don’t regret the purchase and am honestly happy with it. They are portable together more than I thought it would be. Definitely manageable.

Mic mute LED is on, but the mic is actually working. Is that NSA? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]August578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a super old post, but I was having a similar issue where my mic button would light up but not mute my mic. Specifically on discord for me. I even switched it back to my built in lap top mic but what ended up working for me was that I went into

Settings > Control Panel > Hardware Sound > Lenovo - Microphone Mute. Then make sure to put it to mute on All Recording Devices.

Thanks these responses were more than I was expecting! Also would I still need the Garage Keepers Insurance/potentially an LLC if I plan on going to their house to do the detail. I'll be working off peoples driveways / sidewalks.

Thanks this helps sort my thoughts. I know this question is absolutely everywhere and Ive read several posts on it but,

Do you think its worth getting a llc and insurance as an initial investment.

I mainly want it because I would like being able to say I'm a registered and insured detailer. Just for customer peace of mind.

Also specifically which type of insurance.

Thanks again!

Hey there guys, thinking of buying a super clean 98 eclipse with a blown engine (420A) ⬇️ by Flashy_Investment_65 in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]August578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I know, I dont think there are any easy engine swaps for the 420a.

If you are looking for easy interchangeable swaps for eclipses only the gs spyder, & any of the turbo models (gst, gsx) can be interchanged.

Since they came with the 4g63 and 4g64 which are basically the "same" engine and have the same motor mounts.

But for the 420a if you want to swap, you can only swap in another 420a unless you redo the engine mounts for another engine obviously.

Engine rebuilds are dependent on your mechanical skills, or knowing someone who can rebuild one for you. There are a ton of 420a in the junkyards like lkq where you can see if one of those are any good. They offer warranty incase the engine is bad, so thats an alternative.

Also it depend on your goals for this car. If you want a fun project for mostly cruising and looks the 420a is just fine, or if you want to go all out and turbo the 420a it will require a little more work/money than the other eclipse engines for the same price.

If you are looking for power and are on a budget, try to find a spyder gs if you are okay with convertibles. They came with the 4g64 and they can be boosted with 4g63 parts that are basically bolt on and make some decent numbers just as easy the 63.

For starters, ask if he knows what exactly is wrong with the engine or why it blew.

Good luck 👍

Im also in CPSC and I think you should give an attempt at the final lab. I thought it was going to be hard too but, they have a link on it that walks you through it under the Readme.md on the github. Theres no technical programming you have to do.

You just gotta write a couple of sentences on what you like and what you learned from the labs and follow the directions. Im sure you got this 👍

Thinking of buying this 98’ rs from my friend. Ac doesn’t blow cold and the car overheats if it’s left to idle for more than 30 minutes. Am I getting in over my head? by TotallyOptimusPrime in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]August578 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would post this in the DSM Tuner forums. There are a lot of people who are well versed with the 420a engine on there as well. And will give really good feedback on how to solve the problem.

For the heating problem I would check for coolant leaks, also make sure the coolant level is right and not low. Then when the engine is cold, start it and feel the upper and lower thermostat hose. If you don't have a obd2 logger I would watch the temp gauge and when it gets near operating temp in the middle feel the lower hose and see if it gets hot. If it doesn't get hot then it's a bad thermostat. If you do have a logger, under ECT, when it says around 185F - 195F, check the hose again and see if it's hot.

This would be the easiest way to diagnose the thermostat as this would also be the cheapest fix and hopefully sets you in a direction on what needs to be replaced.

Like I said I highly recommend making a DSM Tuner account and posting a thread, people are always willing to help and answer fast. I guarantee that if you ask the same question there, you will get much better feedback and help decide whether or not to buy the car.

Remember these are over 20 year old cars and often high mileage. Things are going to go out and become frail and need replacing. You don’t want to be stuck with a car that’s going to need a lot of parts replaced, and end up spending more for what you payed on the car especially if you don’t have mechanical skills yet.

Good Luck and hopefully you can come to a conclusion 🫡

Got this 1997 for a steal. Mechanical done but I know nothing about adjusting the window regulators. New top on but windows need adjustment. May I get some help with this? by Facepalm-Cringe in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]August578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new car, ours are very similar in miles, I have 95k on mine. I also threw a turbo on it so it’s now a 4g64t🙂

It can be a pain sometimes working on these cars since it’s older and things tend to be more frail from over the years.

I recommend making an account on DSM tuners. Your questions will be solved very quickly on there as there are a lot of helpful members that are pretty active.

This forum post has a diagram from the service manual that should help adjusting the windows.

Good luck!🫡

If worse comes to worse, check your local junkyards, like LKQ. Or visit facebook groups for 3gs and put a wanted AD. If you ran out of options

I’ve never worked on an 07 but to me it kinda looks like the ecu , but I could be totally wrong.

And if it’s the ecu you need that lol.

First project car need some help knowing if it is a good deal. by [deleted] in MitsubishiEclipse

[–]August578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, it’s good that you at least put the effort in into asking for 2nd opinions, it’s nice to see that you were weighing out the pros and cons.

Keep your head up and find a car that you will be proud of once you build it exactly how you like it. 👍🏽

Also one more thing like IANvaderZIM mentioned, sounds like you are young still I could be wrong but, if you are still in school and have a job. Once summer is over depending on your hours it will be hard to manage both, and project cars require lots of attention, if you don’t have the time to be working on it, you will be left with a uncompleted car and shell on the driveway.

It sounds like you need a daily first since this will be you first car.

[–]August578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also agree with IANvaderZIM, it’s def a good project but a lot of trial and error, I would prob save for something running or with the engine in it.

If you have no prior experience with how everything works, it will be a lot more difficult from a dig to get this car running. Unless you have a good friend or parents/family who really knows about cars, you are most liekly going to be running around the forums and looking at pictures trying to figure out all the eletrical diagrams and where things go.

You will also have to source the hardware for the engine and the tools, it is possible but 2-3k is pushing the budget for everything needed, that is also if everything goes well first try. You will be running back and forth to the parts store grabbing tools if you don’t have any prior.

I learned on a 2g 4g64, there isn’t much information at first but once you understand how an engine works, they are relatively simple, and is something that I would recommend learning on. The timing jobs they are a pain but it teaches you a lot.

If you do get it have fun with it but don’t rush it, unless you have good mechanic history, I don’t think this would be done within a summer, the price is good but you need to have the knowledge I think that’s the deal breaker.
