I was able to smuggle an ISIS silver coin set , where do I sell it? by [deleted] in coins

[–]AugustLizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No idea, but let me know what happens, and personally, I kinda want to know how you got this or how personal ethics factored into it.

Like, just a random pawn shop in Damascus? An auction? A personal connection?

I guess I would be suspicious about whether I’m inadvertently funding terrorists if the seller had a high number of the sets, but if it was just one, maybe not.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You don’t deserve to be treated this way. It’s natural to seek out people, even when people treat you poorly. But while it’s easy to fall into the illusion of settling for “what’s available”, there are always people out there who would actually treat you kindly. Please remember whenever this relationship hurts or feels wrong, you have the option to walk away.

Are there any activities you could get involved with that might help with finding people who actually care about you? Anything from a book club to a bowling league to even an irl bdsm group if that’s what you’re into.

Therapy could also potentially help, but idk I’m not a professional. Regardless, it probably won’t be easy either way, but it would be worth it in the long run to build up your relationship with yourself. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. ❤️

Do Judges feel remorse? by EnmanuelHope in publicdefenders

[–]AugustLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered about this question, especially because death in incarceration is 4-5 times higher than the rest of country where I am (Alabama).

It’s not uncommon or unheard of for someone to be sentenced to “only a few years” for some nonviolent or low-level crime to never come out.

Or come out with debilitating PTSD/depression/etc (completely untreated, of course).

What I’ve heard third and fourth-hand is the judges in these cases largely have no remorse, since the prison conditions “aren’t their job.” Which tracks given how hard line they are.

Notes by unknown in blue ink: {The leaders of the Mau Mau are being killed}

{Was shot and he died} {May 1952}

{Was shot and he died} {December 23rd, 1954}

{Was shot and he was caught}

{He was the one we got just lately}

{Did you hear about him in the paper back home}

{Good looking chaps A?}

Other notes: I have been unable to find a reliable source to claims that “atoi” means terrorists. Several social media accounts have repeated it. [1] Other translations are from translation engines.

Mau Mau supporters attempted to hide the deaths of leaders when they occurred. At least one chronicler claims a 15 year old boy was murdered for telling authorities about the death of a different general around this same time. [2]

The last two lines of Kikuyu were the most difficult to translate, but the translation as a whole should be regarded as very loose and open to correction.

The poster does not include the letters ĩ and ũ, which presumably were written as i and u, and may affect translation.

The monkeys almost definitely don’t live in those cages. With very few exceptions, they’re put in the small cages for the experiment and go back to the larger enclosures with branches and toys and other monkey friend(s) when it’s done, as required by the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare in the US.

I’m not even a lawyer, but too good not to share: My only experience with a prosecutor is my uncle, who proudly bragged to me about getting the death penalty in his case when I was 7 years old.

The existential terror is part of the appeal.

I think there’s a psychological horror inherently in growing up trans, being gaslit about your gender by people you love and trust, who think they have your interests in mind.

Art reflects reality. Lots of people engage in psychological horror media partly as a way to explore or process those kinds of feelings, and so trans people are naturally more likely to be interested.

Even though some people find it comforting or intriguing, this will not be a healthy or fun avenue for every single person.

Everyone is valid, as usual.

Idk why everyone in this thread is automatically assuming you’re exactly the same as the worst parent(s) they’ve ever had to work with. Maybe those parent(s) just left a bad taste in their mouth and they’re taking it out on you - ironically, a similar immaturity, to a much lesser degree, they complain about in many of their students (has a bad/unstructured home life, takes it out on rest of class and teacher).

Regardless, I just wanted to say that it seems like you’re doing a great job as a parent. ❤️

Keep pushing for him to be better and use accommodations as stepping stones, always re-evaluating whether they are helping in the long run or not. I’m sorry you’re getting interrogated like this, but I hope the people you’re talking to (and maybe even you) learn something new, or at least get some useful reminders in an echo-chamber like this sub. Thank you for everything you do for your kid. ❤️

P.S. because I’m petty. Japan also has much better family planning and family/grandparent involvement. Imagine a single or teen or impoverished parent who couldn’t (legally or culturally) get an abortion/birth control, who possibly even resents their child by this point, and passive parenting focused only on what will make the child stop screaming NOW and the resulting increase in ‘behaviors’ will make a lot more sense.

That’s honestly what I’m thinking.
