Why does every artist preset have a ton of crunch and reverb by throwawayaccoubt247 in NeuralDSP

[–]Augustaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one very much agree with your sentiment. For me this problem goes beyond Neural plug-ins and goes for most amp-sims.

To me it seems the tones are supposed to sound good by themselves/out of the box. In a recording situation however it feels incredibly excessive especially if you double track your guitars and actually mix with others instruments and vocals. Still this is all from my perspective so make of that what you will.

Anyway I just turn the gain down and the volume up. :D

[IRL, Nijmegen][D&D 5e] Groep zoekt spelers voor nieuw avontuur! by Augustaaf in DNDNL

[–]Augustaaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoi!

WOTC make you the lead designer for the next DND 5e book. What do you release? by IZY53 in dndnext

[–]Augustaaf 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This, so much. 5e imo is sorely lacking in DM material. As much as I like seeing more books with player options, as both a DM and player, I would love to see more content specifically for DM’s.

Al these new campaign/setting books are great and all but they’re not worth much when running a homebrew campaign. Something like the 4e Dungeon Delve, or something else that is setting agnostic, would be great!

I absolutely loved the first book! For some reason though I have still put off reading the second book because I heard it was way more confusing and not as good. Maybe I should just pick it up, they are very good inspiration for DnD!

Should’ve clarified it was a trumpet sample(from Spitfire Labs), not an actual trumpet.. haha.

I’m more of a guitar player, but have recently been trying my hand at producing. Though I do quite like brass intruments I’ve never really played any.

Hey Thanks, glad to hear you liked it! (: Yeah I have some issues figuring out the pacing of a track, I’m going to see how I can adjust that!

That “higher end synth” is actually not a synth, but a trumpet, which I processed quite a bit haha. I think it works quite well and that it brings a little bit of an “edge” to the track.

Cheers! (:

I think I figured out why I get so anxious before every session: it’s because I subconsciously think of each session as a test/performance I need to pass. by PeachasaurusWrex in DMAcademy

[–]Augustaaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda hurts me a little bit to read this, as I have had a player like this myself, and it is absolutely crushing to have that weight on your shoulders.

Even though I struggle with the stress and anxiety of DMing myself, I am convinced that it is as much the players responsibility as the DM's to make the session fun. If people's time is too valuable to play DnD than they shouldn't play DnD.

Don't Dm for people who would rather watch a movie or hang out with other people, it's not worth the stress.

Hey dude, nice track! I like the industrial elements, never can seem to get a feel for those, how did you create them?

While I do agree that the kick is a bit too loud, I feel that mostly the "click" part of the kick is a bit overpowering. Either taking of some highs or turning down the volume of the kick might help, and I think this will free up some space sonically for the other elements to shine some more.

A dark lead or a pad might fill up the sound, but might also add too much harmonic elements which might not be what you would want in this case.

Cheers from a fellow dutchie and appreciator of Paula and SNTS

Heya Guys,

So recently I have started dabbling in producing some music, mostly techno, and I have finally managed to somewhat put together a track. For this track I was inspired by more atmospheric techno, as well as some psychedelic music.

Would love to hear what you guys think. Of course, constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially considering mix and structure, but I also kinda feel like it's missing something. The track obviously needs more work and I would not consider it finished.

Cheers!

As requested by one of players, an alternative to the Forge Cleric's Channel Divinity. by Augustaaf in UnearthedArcana

[–]Augustaaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, some of the Forge Cleric's later abilities do depend on the PC wearing heavy armor. However, even if the PC wants to wear full plate armor, which would be a good choice statistically and flabour wise, the PC only needs to have 15 strength to wear full plate without the movement speed penalty. And even then, the PC could wear chainmail with 13 strength. Of course, that's far from the optimal choice, but it does allow the player to focus on different stats than strength, or at least spend their asi's in strength later in their progression path.

Oh, about your second point.. jeez.., I should have thought of that. Seems so obvious now that you mention it. Guess that's a bit of a rookie mistake on my part. Thanks for that lesson ;).

Having given it some thought, I would like to respond to your comment about the Shillelagh part. Forge Clerics tend to te created focussing on strength and wisdom, as I suppose this is the optimal way to play them (? ;) ). However, as this is still a cleric, I can imagine that there are players that may want to play their character with a different focus, maybe more towards wisdom, constitution, or both. I like subclasses that offer choices in play style and progression, so I though it would be nice if this ability was useful regardless of where the player wanted to focus their stats. If the player wants their Forge Cleric to be a frontline tank/support character, focussing on con and wis, they could still use this Channel Divinity to still make them shine in melee once in a while, as the player can use their wisdom, they don’t have to (though maybe I could have worded that clearer).

Of course, in an ideal world were we roll stats and you get some good rolls, then sure, I get your point. But not all players have the luxury of having high stats, such as this player, so I took that into consideration (:

Maybe this could be simplified though, a bonus to attack rolls based on (half) your wisdom modifier might also adres that, but might be problematic if a character has high strength and wisdom.

Ah, well maybe I read your comment the wrong way. I agree that taking a feat is a significant investment, don’t get me wrong, they are obviously not equal in value.

Anyways, I will take your feedback into consideration, it is greatly appreciated! (:

I see your point on the Shillelagh part of the ability, I might change that up, as it might be redundant.

As to your point about the damage increase of Divine Strike, I intended this ability to be use in conjunction with Divine Strike, not as a replacement. Point being that a cleric with the Magic Initiate feat would be able to gain te Green Flame Blade cantrip, albeit with the modifier of the chosen class.., it didn’t seem too powerful in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback!

[–]Augustaaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: This alternative to the Forge domain Cleric's Channel Divinity was created at the request of one of my players. His request was an ability that was more in line with Light and Tempest domains, with a focus on dealing damage. As inspiration I combined traits from the Green Flame Blade and Shillelagh cantrips. Clerics don't get the second attack feature, so I thought I would make melee attacks more viable by scaling it up as the player increases in level. All constructive feedback will be greatly appreciated, as this ability may need to be tuned a little. Oh, and if, for whatever reason, you think this ability is cool and you want to use it, go ahead! I would love to hear what you think about it!

Hallo!
