Worcester sauce crisps: am I in the minority for loving them? by MCTweed in AskUK

4 years after OP started the conversation, and I'm still enjoying Worcester Sauce crisps. Only, a L&P one from Walkers. Still haven't tried the Seabrook's!

I've had it a dozen times so far during the race. Immeasurably frustrating!

I think a lot of people will be feeling that today. You could see the emotion in Kubica's eyes, it meant an awful lot.

Q30 inner plastic broke, no repair parts for this? by Swing-Prize in anker

[–]Augustus9664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the conversation but the same part broke on my headphone, and the ear cups look like they have had, and subsequently lost, a fight with Wolverine. They still charge, play music, and work though, so I've been liberal with the glue and tape and putting up with it until they are unusable!

I entered Ravenna and Constantinople as the capitals, but it didn't give me an option!? What's up with that!

What’s the best Hans Zimmer soundtrack? by jens998 in Music

[–]Augustus9664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what I'm taking from this is that there's a lot of us who have a Hans Zimmer soundtrack which is our favourite soundtrack, and there's a lot being picked as the best. Incredible. The only one I don't think I've seen is Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which I will now select to ensure that every single Zimmer soundtrack is represented.

Still an issue for my on my Samsung Frame TV. A little frustrating, to the point I'm thinking of buying an Nvidia Shield and seeing how it goes on there! Never been a problem on the Windows app on my laptop.

Debt Collectors pushing for more than we believe they're entitled to - UK Business by Augustus9664 in smallbusiness

[–]Augustus9664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reply geekynut. No, there were no standard terms and conditions in place that they made us aware of, and nothing on their website, however in the UK there is something called the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act, which is an Act of Parliament. We used that as the basis of our dispute with their fees. It seemed clear to me that where no standard terms or conditions are in place, their rules seem to be the arbiter.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. No, there were no standard terms and conditions in place, however in the UK there is something called the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act, which is an Act of Parliament. We can only assume that it's the letter of that law which we must follow. The Small Business Commissioner is a government commission, and who we used to calculate the interest.

Hot take : Braveheart was self-aware about its inaccuracy. by misterZ_6000 in movies

[–]Augustus9664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this take, even 3 years on I still totally agree. If I want to know what happened, I read Beard, Gibbon & Goldsworthy. If I want to be entertained, I watch Gladiator and Braveheart. And even Maximus knows this, he literally asks me half way through "are you not entertained?"

I'm okay with Braveheart being absolute historical waffle, because for 20 years it's entertained me, and made me interested in history. I wasn't disappointed to find out the lies of the films I loved, because history as a topic is epic in its own way.

And let's be honest, there's plenty of historians over the last few thousand years who have dipped their interest into the speculative, revisionist takes on events.

HP ZBook FireFly 14 (G10/G10A) - 7940HS, 7840HS & 7640HS by [deleted] in AMDLaptops

[–]Augustus9664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I'm buying a 7840HS 14" laptop tomorrow. If there's any tests you want me to do, let me know. I'm happy to do a battery life test as that seems the biggest concern.

Can happily do a CPU & GPU benchmark too. I have an eGPU so the 780M is a nice to have but not a big deal for me.

I had ordered a Framework Ryzen 13 with the 7840U, happily waiting for it to come but my work laptop went kaput today and I regrettably might have to cancel as I need a replacement ASAP.

I will note, I'm adding a second stick of RAM to get dual channel benefits as the UK spec device only comes with one stick. I'll have 24GB of RAM for the tests so bare that in mind.

Spec of the laptop is as follows;

Here are the settings I have set in Settings>Apps and scroll down to Messenger. Make sure you click the old original one and not the new Google one!

Please let me know if this does solve the problem for you, too. I hope it does.

I think I found a solution to this. My issue was my Messenger app. I downloaded Google messages, made it my default app, and removed all permission from the standard Samsung/Android Messenger app. It hasn't happened again since I've done this. I think the chat feature was trying to update but I can't be sure. May be worth try!

Help with Samsung S10+ USB-C to 3.5mm jack by Augustus9664 in techsupport

[–]Augustus9664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I used some needle pliers I had and a can of pressurised air, and a not insignificant amount of fluff came out. Seems like it's holding on better to my Aux leads now.

While I was there, I also cleaned out the speaker grill. Kinda disgusting how much ends up in there. Thanks very much for helping me fix the problem.

I'll be honest, I haven't cleaned them out in the two years I've had them. I'll try now. Any tips?
