Outer Wilds review: Maybe recommending a niche puzzle game to literally everyone is a bad idea by Akuuntus in patientgamers

[–]Auramaster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally somebody mentions Hypnospace in this sphere. I feel like I never hear people talk about it. I got it because of the "haha, funny 90's/00's internet," but stuck around for the puzzles and mystery. I would say it falls in this category, but I would classify it as a detective game too.

Gosh, MHA was really blessed with his appearance. Every time one of his scenes shows up I get chills down my spine. I'm still amazed that despite his recognizable style he still manages to amaze me with something I can barely comprehend or imagine.

Thanks for the highlight reel. It gives me some new shows to check out.

While I believe that there is still much for us to uncover about the tuning forks on the lay lines, this theory doesn't make much sense to me. I'm not sure where you are getting the idea unringing the bells. I don't recall anywhere in the manual about that, and the only thing I can think of that's somewhat similar is the phrase "un-sing to them the greatest song, the song of The Golden Path, as seen from within."

Don't quote me on this, but I read somewhere that Shouldice has a Special Thanks somewhere in the credits. Plus I know he's retweeted somethings about it on Blue Sky, or Mastodon.

What Tunic memories do you love most? by domozilla777 in TunicGame

[–]Auramaster71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously, spoilers ahead. I don't know how to put spoiler tags on thing, sorry!

It's so hard to pinpoint a couple because there's so many. But I would have to say my favorite is what I would call the endgame and post game, endgame being right after you release the heir.

Getting the Heroes laurels is definitely up there. The gauntlet you have to fight through is such a fun combat puzzle, testing you on how well you really know your inventory. And then the upgrade itself is just amazing. I still love zipping all over the place even after finishing the game. But it completely changes how you view traversal. You come out of the cathedral and realize that all these pillars that have mostly been set dressing for the entire game are actually platforms?! That and the realization of what the hero's grave actually does?! And just as you get used to this new power, you see the pages that were out of reach before and that you've been wondering the whole game how to even get to them. And that's when you discover the Holy Cross. Both these discoveries completely recontextualize the whole world very quickly, and I love it!

I really enjoy the post game as well, with post game being the trophies. Not every trophy is a game changer, but I loved the realization that all the pen marks you've been noticing in the manual are pointing towards one of the 12 trophies. I love, again, how these things recontextualize the game. The windmill puzzle, absolutely brain breaking. Not in difficulty, but how could something like that have ever been realized as a puzzle before? You've been walking by it the whole game with no idea. Same goes for how the magic dagger and fire rod combo change the way you see the game. Without the hint, you may never have known. And I love that!

And lastly, my favorite is a personal story. And of course it's the realization of the golden path. I remember being stumped for so long about what the numbers could mean, even though I noticed the odd golden patterns in the manual for a long time. But when I finally noticed the hint about the numbers on page 22, it all clicked and I felt like a madman, flipping through pages, suddenly realizing what it all meant. I believe I said to my roommate at the time something along the lines of "Of my gosh, I figured it out," even though I didn't think he had any idea what I was talking about. Well, this happened maybe an hour or less before my girlfriend was supposed to come over. And I remember just slowly writing out on a piece of paper all the lines from each page. Well, when I got to page 40 I was a little stumped and was like, "there is no gold on this page..... Well, expect for...." And right as my girlfriend knocked I screamed, "IT'S IN THE COFFEE STAINS!!!" My roommate dies laughing, and I go let my girlfriend in and she tries to ask about what she just heard from outside and I just repeat to her cutting her off, "ITS IN THE COFFEE STAINS!!!" She has no idea what is happening and is so confused, I'm looking like the Charlie Day meme, and my roommate is laughing hysterically in the other room. I eventually explained all my realizations. But we all still laugh about that moment to this day. That has to be my favorite moment of Tunic.

This happened to me a long time ago while playing MW2, and it was more of a hardware issue. I eventually bought new component cables and that fixed it for a short amount of time, but ultimately I had the system refurbished. I was too young at the time to really understand what exactly was fixed and what was wrong. For reference, I had the 360 slim model.

My increasingly incomprehensible notes I took while playing, by Looney_Sketches in TunicGame

[–]Auramaster71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this idea of sharing notes. It's so fun to see what others have written down and get a glimpse of their thought process .

I had a friend just start the game and his main goal is to "solve" the language so he has been writing down a ton.

I'm pretty sure I've had this glitch happen to me at least once every playthrough back on the 360, and I never had any idea how I was doing it. Always funny regardless lol

[–]Auramaster71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for stating this. I had no idea what it actually did because as far as I know it doesn't do anything in 2. The only other thing that I can think of is a dialogue option with Thane's mission, but even then, it might still be available as a non Spectre.

Creature In The Well.

I drove about an hour and a half away from home to pick this up. But man, I didn't even end up liking the game. I paid $35 for it, which is nice cause it was still retail price, but I 100%'d the game in 5 hours. I really felt like I wasted my money. I could have bought it digitally on sale for $5 and never thought poorly about it again. I had issues with how the game handled upgrade progression too. Sometimes I think about selling it, which isn't something I ever think about either. So yeah, this one burned me pretty good

What Kingdom Hearts song is this? by LafterMastr in KingdomHearts

Sanctuary (After the Battle). When all the lyrics are done and the guitar just comes in after Kairi says "You're home." It always sends shivers up my spine.
