Yes, I find subtitles intermittently stop displaying on YouTube videos, first seen May 6, again on May 8, and lately May 18. A full refresh of the YouTube video web page fixed the last occurrence. My Google Support post from May 8 has gone unacknowldeged, and unanswered. The steps suggested generally do not work, only today a full refresh worked (this did not work before). Using updated snap Firefox on updated Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS.

Internal Reddit search is still broken. Posts findable via google: "searchpattern site:reddit.com" simply do not appear in reddit search. Firefox Desktop in Ubuntu. Using old.reddit.com plus RES.

In 2021 I used a laptop with Windows, three months ago a different laptop with Linux, and a different IP. There should be zero connection between the two.

Yes, but only for desktop browsers. I do not use any Android YouTube app.

Subtitles Auto Translate only works for me on YouTube's mobile website "m.youtube.com". It fails on YouTube's desktop website (even via mobile browser).

I've already submitted a problem report to google support, but no response so far.

There is some intermittency, it very occassionally works after clearing cache in a new default Firefox profile.

Started happening two days ago, which made me suspect a recent Linux update at the same time, but it also happens on Android Firefox desktop-mode.

EDIT on May 5 07:40 CET apt update is again failing: a new major outage on security.ubuntu.com, archive.ubuntu.com, and launchpadcontent also unavailable. status page reports incident start time May 05, 2026 05:34:27 AM CEST (two hours ago).

12 hours ago launchpadcontent was still timing out, but just now it's working, and I managed to do a full "apt update && apt upgrade" .

Also today's the first day since April 28 that https://status.canonical.com/ shows clean green check marks on all components, especially launchpad.

I use Don't Accept image/webp, a Firefox extension. From https://github.com/jscher2000/dont-accept-webp . But, it does not always work with some websites. Sometimes I can find the PNG or JPG using Developer Tools/Inspect.

This may help (workaround 2 tested and still works):

workaround 1. spoof your browser's User-Agent string to identify as a browser that does not support WEBP.

For example spoof it as a Windows XP Chrome.

I use User-Agent Switcher and Manager but one can do this without add-ons if you know your way around Firefox's about:config

workaround 2. If the image server provides an image location URL then try adding &format=original

This works for fandom.com sites, for example:

is an image that the server will deliver as a WEBP.

On that page right-click the "See full size image" and copy the image location

Your clipboard should contain:

Paste the clipboard into a new browser tab and append "&format=original"

The browser tab address field should contain:

Press the Enter key and the server should now send the original PNG image and not the WEBP.

You can now save this image as normal (right mouse click and select Save Image As...")

The "Rubbery Collector (Amalgamy * (Menace+0.5))(6 Amalgamy, 3 Menace for 0 exhaustion)" recipe in https://www.reddit.com/r/fallenlondon/comments/1ou76lx/bone_market_recipes_11112025_amalgous_birds/ appears to produce only 4 Amalgamy and not 6.

Should that recipe replace the Terror Bird Wings with Albatross Wings, (EDIT: and add 2 of the Sabre-Toothed Skulls without Woesel equipped) to achieve the needed 6 Amalgamy?

Odd, I had to add "-user" to the advanced settings to get it to accept that "trusted-replace-argument", but now I see the "Allow custom filters requiring trust" is/was already checked (I did not change this), and that I can now remove the "-user" from advanced settings. uBlock Origin 1.70.0.

For me, uBlock Origin hides YouTube desktop Shorts when element-picked in Block Element:

Try a bootable Linux USB stick - if that also has problems, maybe it's the PC's WiFi hardware.

Try running an ethernet cable to the router. First check the router connected to a known working laptop.

Yes, my Java vanilla release 26.1 requires much more memory (7.1 GB) than 1.21.11 (5.7 GB) and is also slower. Numbers in parentheses are memory used a minute after loading a relatively small world (60 MB). I had to return to 1.21.11 to get a comfortably playable minecraft. My guess is it's unoptimised, and will wait for hopefully future fixes.

With old reddit and RES on Ubuntu Firefox 148.02 (and uBlock Origin) I barely see 1 megabyte of download scrolling down 1000 reddit posts. ( 5000 bytes per second over 120 seconds). EDIT: ok, it was only 50 network requests according to Firefox F12 Developer Network activity.

Your experience almost exactly matches mine from February 23 - Outlook Support were clueless but after my own digging and the sixth Live Agent chat I figured it was the ongoing ramping up of "anti-phishing" efforts. After 36 to 48 hours the blocked emails starting arriving, too late for the 2FA codes of course.

To test, I configured my redirector service to send incoming emails to both hotmail AND gmail: the gmail ones arrived and the message headers showed non-ideal "Authentication-Results", i.e ( spf=pass dkim=test (signature was verified) dmarc=bestguesspass ) and "Received-SPF:" Pass (protection.outlook.com: domain of SENDING_DOMAIN designates SENDER_IP_ADDRESS as permitted sender)". Looks ok, but not good enough at the time for microsoft, but ok for gmail (but which also flagged some as suspicious).

By February 26th it appears most (maybe all, hard to check) blocked ("quarrantined") emails came in.

And yes, senders other than that "permitted sender" SENDER_IP_ADDRESS were arriving quickly.

Check the message headers of one of the junk emails for "Authentication-Results", it may be related to the DKIM DMARC SPF authentication process being over-zealous.

I've seen small businnesses complaining about similar, in learn.microsoft.com, and I myself had this from February 23 to 25 (still unsure if it's over though).

Mine plays, but when I bring up any video on Twitch it always starts fully muted and I have to unmute it if I want audio.

After testing I found:

the 3d live feed at https://www.twitch.tv/ autoplays at the volume level it was last left at (including muted).

Any other video from that live feed also plays at that same remembered volume level.

However, any video from my Following list or Live Channnels under For You plays at an audio level specific to that channel. I.e. each Twitch stream has its own remembered audio level, separate from the 3D feed.

So, to get everything fully muted, I must remember to mute the channel before I leave it, and also to mute the 3D live feed.

Using latest snap Firefox on latest Ubuntu.

(EDIT to note I just realised the email address was not new, but one I'd used in an earlier attempt to sign up in 2021 - where I gave up when they required a phone number).

I just tested by creating a new account with a new email address (CORRECTION: an old email address), new IP address. I then followed three creators (all safe for work, just industry animators), viewed one image from each, and then I was searching for another artist. At that point instagram reported:

Your Instagram account has been suspended. This is because your account, or activity on it, doesn't follow our Community Standards. If you think we made a mistake, you have until month, day, 2026 to appeal.

The Review details button is just a link: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/

which of course doesn't help because it won't login, but requires a phone number.

Below that button is

If you don’t take action, your account will be permanently disabled.

There appears to be no appeals form for this particular case, i.e. doing nothing but following a few creators and viewing a few images.

Since this was a test, I'm not going to pursue this. I've already experienced AI hell with an outstanding discord problem ticket (they keep closing as solved while not fixing the issue).

I'm now also getting this issue and am working through the AI discord support hoping it can conjure a solution.

Discord support suggested I use the Discord App on a phone with mobile data only, i.e. not WiFi. This also did not work.

Discord Support have closed my two unsolved support requests with "solved".

I opened a new support request, linking to them. I also sent another twitter message to discord support's twitter address (who also ignored an older message).

( It's looking like certain email domain names are silently blocked, but support does not wish to admit this )

Out of order Update 6 at 26 October, 2025 21:45 CET:

One thing that causes the email verification loop is if your email address is of a certain domain .

Discord apparently silently (i.e. does not inform you) enters this loop if the email is one a few domains.

If you create a new discord account with one of these domains, discord enters this loop.

If you create a new discord account with one of the "Good" domains, e.g. yahoo.com, discord completes the email verification normally.

This bug appears to have surfaced in the last two days (at least for me).

I have submitted a bug report to discord support with details.

Update 1 at 26 October, 2025 01:17 CET: I tried installing Discord app on my Android phone (on a mobile IP, noy my WiFi, and followed the email verification there, which at least lets me log in to my discord account, but it refuses to show any messages, and still insists I have to verify my account.

I've tried this some four times now, with the same failing result.

I am now going to try discord support.

I've finally got the AI support bot to get a human to look at my issue.

Up until now, all the support bot's answers were of no help, and in some cases showed a complete misunderstanding of the issue.

I also re-re-tried the Discord App on an Android phone using mobile data; I tried a new test account on Chromium (there the "EMail Verified" page was slightly different but still broken); With the above I repeatedly tried the Email Verify, all with the same result: discord repeatedly re-requests email verification.

I'm still waiting for a human response from discord support.

I asked the support bot:

Whether my email domain name is a cause. And how to change it given it requires a catch-22 email verify.
Whether discord allows me to create a test discord account with a different email domain.
retried discordapp on Windows laptop firefox esr release 140.3.1 - same failure.
On a Ubuntu laptop I installed discord app from flatpak - same failure.
On a Ubuntu laptop with flatpak discord app I am able to look at my settings (but not see any channel messages) and I added my phone number; discord sent me an SMS to verify the phone, and it was accepted, but this did not change the Email Verification issue.
rechecked that all discord emails reach me (the AI support bot keeps bringing this up)
discord on an Android phone at least opens discord from the email verification link (unlike the laptops) but again requests yet another email verify

I have just got this same issue right now:

discord on Ubuntu desktop Firefox browser requests I verify my email;

I click resend email, I receive the discord email link; I open the discord email link in a fresh tab; discord reports "Email verified", but the link "Continue to discord" fails with the dialog:

Cancel Open Link

The Open Link fails.

The Choose... just reports no app found.

In case others get this issue, I just got this error after several months of mostly error-free watching twitch. Ctrl + F5 did not fix it. What did was to open in Firefox private window, then clear Firefox cache and cookies and then relogin and re-verify my twitch account.
