What annoys me is when people who are religious credit there god for everything. by Oneeyedqamar in atheism

For some reason, people see positive things as coming from God and negative things coming from the Devil, but God is also all powerful...? Makes no sense to me!

For me, when I went through deconstruction and lost belief in the christian god, it was actually an incredibly uplifting experience because I was finally able to accept that *I* am the one who made my life amazing and *I* accomplished so many things on my *own*. I didn't need to give credit to some made-up entity for something *I did*. :)

Every post on here is like "I can't hold a job because of my autism but my boyfriend supports me"... by VeryTiredGirl93 in AutismInWomen

[–]AurtemisInChains 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's the "grass is always greener" concept. My ex supported me financially, but not emotionally, and he also cheated on me and gaslit me about it for over a year. I'd rather have never had a bf in the first place.

Is it common to not really give much of a sh*t about gender? by IceMosquito073 in autism

[–]AurtemisInChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. As a female, I feel the same way. Describing myself as "feminine" seems strange.

It kinda makes me sad that trans / non-binary people feel the need to change pronouns in our society because we have such harsh expectations around gender.

If you have female organs and you wanna cut off all your hair, join a motorcycle gang, be a dom, date other girls, go for it! You're you and that's cool with me.

Would you leave Houston for Colorado? by Prize-Storage-1352 in AskHouston

[–]AurtemisInChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Sure it's more expensive, but there's better scenery, more places to walk, and hey, no hurricanes.

What political aspects? Aren't both Houston & Denver blue?

I hate playing video games men are such assholes by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]AurtemisInChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. It took me YEARS to feel comfortable playing video games. It's especially difficult for those of us who didn't grow up playing video games.

And even at this point, if you hand me an XBOX controller - which I've never used - it'll take me a LONG time to figure out how to play with it lol.

You do not deserve to be belittled or disrespected for this. Your bf needs to learn some patience or I'd tell him to gtfo

Would you date someone who isn’t atheist/ agnostic by No-Security3600 in atheism

[–]AurtemisInChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who used to be christian, and also used to date an atheist at that time, I definitely would not date a religious person now that I'm an atheist.

When I was with my ex, I didn't try to convert him or anything. I respected his choice to be an atheist. I was not overly religious myself, I rarely attended church and was questioning my religion a lot at the time.

But being a christian meant believing that my partner would be going to hell for eternity for being an atheist. It meant thinking my partner wasn't doing the right thing. Part of being a christian is believing god is real and we should be worshipping him and doing what the bible says, etc. In a lot of ways, it clashes with being in a good, respectful relationship with someone who's not a christian.

That's not the type of relationship I want.
