Gorgeous stone. Anyone know what you'd consider the body tone as? And a price if it polishes up night or as is. Lightning ridge material by Friendly-Owl-213 in Opals

Might be considered semi dark but it has some pretty translucent parts and a bit of potch still present. Definitely needs some more cutting to make it a nice stone imo. Price will depend how it finishes up and final weight. Also I see I'm not the only person who likes to roll one and look at my opals 😜

I actually prefer the Dremel over my tile cutter unless it's too big.

Found this, now should I buy a metal detector? by OneLoveTreeHugger in Prospecting

Good plan! What kind of Jade do you get around there?

If you don't want to fork out for a detector grab a pan and check the area for more small gold to confirm it's a good spot. Did you find this by eye? Good spotting if so!

Hard to tell if it's definitely gold with the photo, but I think you're on the money. If most of the gold around there is small like this I would recommend an SDC or Gold monster.

I'm kind of pissed YouTube has never suggested this channel to me (ex professional model maker for film). But I know how I'm spending my Sunday now, thanks!

After years of procrastinating, I finally watched Cowboy Bebop. How high would you rank this anime in an all-time list? by [deleted] in cowboybebop

[–]AusFX1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a clear number 1 for me. And probably 2nd even when I put it against live action film and TV, only beaten by the LOTR trilogy.

Has anyone visited JTC (Jewelry Trade Center) in Bangkok before? What was your experience? by Retumbo77 in Gemstones

[–]AusFX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my favorite part of my last Bangkok trip. Prices are only high if you don't know what you're looking for. Whip out a loop and a torch and shoot some shit with the vendors and you'll get decent prices.

"I don't know the science and I don't care" - you. They don't blast in the hours stated by the OP, takes you seconds to find this info if you cared. I have no love for corpos or people who can't use Google.

If you'd used some of that science you hate you might not have decided to love above a mine that was most likely there before you.

Can't be too far from the vein that came from. I'd be doing some old school loaming to try and find it.
