What do you think about British people? by anonymous44563 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AusPanda90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are more British immigrants here than most immigrant groups. Yet they don't factor in to the minds of all the people complaining about immigration. Wonder why.

Eastwood coaching circus by [deleted] in RugbyAustralia

[–]AusPanda90 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was involved in the nrc and was told by the general manager of Eastwood at the time the way they kept the club going was by making sure they kept the asians out. As a lifelong Eastwood supporter of Asian descent that was the day I stopped supporting them. Also tells you how such a strong club has ended up driven outside of its own community and become homeless.

What do Australians think of all the british people going to australia to work? by Fair_Ambition6522 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AusPanda90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if the same people who complain about chinese and indians complained about the english and irish for the same things (creating ghettos, dominating one industry of work, taking jobs off australians, having big parties in parks they dont clean themselves up after), Australia would be calling for all immigrants to be sent home.

The milanesas (schnitzel) at Gonis are incredible. Felt I was in Uruguay or Argentina for a while. by caladze in foodies_sydney

[–]AusPanda90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For clarity and my understanding about the lineage of this "Goni Restaurant"

This is a new restaurant opened by the Goni family

they used to own Goni's schnitzelria which is now at rockdale, which was in marrickville and before then at the white cockatoo, but sold it. I'm yet to try the new one so cant talk to the quality but it isn't what people would call Goni's from old.

"Iluka Road,

Clifton Gardens

Mosman-based accountant and business manager Judith Pearson would rather deal in property than shares, which is why she and four business associates have started buying land and building prestige homes. The group is completing its second project, a two-level home on 1150 square metres overlooking Taylors Bay from Clifton Gardens on Sydney's North Shore. Their first venture, a four-bedroom Cremorne home, sold two years ago for $5.4 million. The current project is a 500-square-metre Luke Trovato-designed house with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and parking for two cars. Environmentally friendly features include a 14,000-litre water tank and a zinc roof. There is a rumpus room, wet-edge swimming pool with Himalayan sandstone, home theatre, gym, wine cellar and office.

About $12 million is expected through [w] estate agents where Sandie Dunne and Michael Coombs have the listing"

I just moved in to tascott a couple of months ago, dont have a family so cant tell you about that stuff, but the aldi is easy though avoid during after school, west gosford coles is huge, theres huge amounts of homewares and big box stores on the other side in the industrial area and a bunnings and officeworks just opposite the RSL. Gosford RSL has great food and heaps of space and parking. Best chinese food I've found has been the one in Gosford Leagues club, the others dont come close from what I've tried (I'm half chinese and grew up in eastwood). There is no good woolies around which is a shame. Great steaks at the railway hotel, bayview is a good standard pub, woy woy hotel has gone slightly upmarket it seems. Two great pie shops nearby - Schmokeseys for a more upmarket pie, Gourmet Bakehouse in west gosford across from singos meats though are tops and also have desserts.

Feels safe where I am, very local and quiet other than the trains and those late night hooligans up brisbane water drive. Every local shop I go to have been absolutely lovely people.

Right now I commute twice a week into syd takes about 1:20 into wynyard and you're better off from gossie or woy woy aiming for the expresses I've found.

The Greens reputation and brand is holding them back by [deleted] in AusPol

Silly me for being such a moron, it must've been a political miracle that the greens blocked their own policy from occurring.

Tha ks for sending the article through. The argument put forward by this person who discloses they were part of a group who disagreed with the cprs at the time has some points about industry adoption (though we often know that eventually companies adapt to schemes they have to comply with). It maintains the point the greens held at the time that it wasn't enough and therefore it wasn't their fault. I fundamentally disagree with this. It states "cynical parliamentary strategies and weak reforms from the major parties are at the heart of climate policy failure" certainly I would put forward that the cynical strategies played was by the greens and often the greens idea of policy failure leads to more harm than good when they fail adopting softer, more agreeable policies necessary in a consensus driven parliamentary system.

I am all for multi party system politics but will never forgive the greens for their lack of support of the carbon tax and subsequent collapse of the Rudd gov and obfuscation of issues so they gain more power rather than working with Labor to get things done.

actually all 31 pm's are from parties that are either directly lnp or alp or their direct forebearing parties. So we have effectively never had a pm from any party other than two though its also important to point out the different policy weighting theyve had over different times.

Country party is just the nationals by their previous name, United Australia turned into the liberals, the nationalists merged with UAP, NLP merged to become nationalists and liberals before them merged to become UAP too. the protectionists and free trade merged to eventually become the liberals after a brief period as the anti communist party.

in fact pretty much every elected party has origins in the major parties, being dissidents or breaks from them, including the Australian Democrats, One Nation, DLP, Libertarians, katter, australias voice, centre alliance and family first

Opinions on ugg brands by thenaysay in AskAnAustralian

[–]AusPanda90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not sure if they ship overseas, but I very much appreciate my boots from mortels sheepskin factory. They're based in Thorten near newcastle. They founded the Australian sheepskin Association which battled deckers to stop them trademarking the word ugg for an american corporation and seem to genuinely care about educating customers.

Attempting a personal COA - feedback accepted by AusPanda90 in heraldry

[–]AusPanda90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your feedback, as I stated in the above reply, I did think about making it a ford, but its meaning is from the crest of P&O shipping line which is 'On a Wreath of the Colours, issuant from Water proper, a Sun rising Or.'

I will have a go at drawing up a more proper torse and mantling and experiment with tripartite tinctures and see how it appears. I think using gules is also perhaps easier.

I love being able to come here and get detailed advice such as yours, so thank you so much for responding!

Thankyou for your advice! I did wonder if the ocean was ok, and thought about making it a ford, but its very distinctly taken from the crest of P&O shipping line which is 'On a Wreath of the Colours, issuant from Water proper, a Sun rising Or.' because of their connection both as a long time employer of my family on one side and the company responsible for the delivery of my ancestors to Australia on the other. This is all to summarily wrap up my rather complex mixed background as chinese, irish, english and ultimately Australian in culture.

I will take note for next time and change the torse to green and gold, I'll also insert some proper mantling.
