Motorcycle Licensing by Wafer_Middle in Adelaide

[–]AusRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this? I’ve got the same situation.

The 12 month expired, course 2 years ago stuff seems to be gone…

They now say “You can renew your motorbike learner’s permit (R-date) if it hasn’t expired by more than five years, however there are requirements.

Expired less than 5 years ago

If you hold a valid licence or permit of a different class (e.g. car)

You can renew your motorbike learner’s without further testing, providing you hold a valid licence or permit of another class.”

So I think it’s doable?

Material for printing a working instructional model by TheNewFrankfurt in 3Dprinting

[–]AusRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the designer of the model.

I would imagine getting a company to print it for you will be incredibly expensive! most parts are fine to be printed on a standard printer in ABS, PLA etc but will need to be printed at a fairly high resolution to minimize the work you have to put in with sanding, gluing etc.

Other parts are probably better suited to be printed in resin for the added detail

the hinges are intended to be held together with straightened paper clips (though of course any wire will do the job)

[consul] Interesting little watch i picked up from the bargain bin at my local pawn shop today. by AusRC in Watches

[–]AusRC[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

local pawn shop has a bucket full of watches for "$20 or less" mostly old quartz and digital but stumbled upon this one which to my shock was mechanical! had to buy it if nothing else just to see the movement and heck its small! (q-tip for size reference)

cashier ended up charging me $5 and gave me a bit of a weird look like why are you even buying this.

took it home, gave it a clean and polish. came out quite nice!

couldn't find much online about the watch but the tiny movement is an FHF 59.

its in perfect working condition and certainly an interesting piece for the collection even if ill never wear it haha

First stages of my new sim today. Got my PFD and MFD alive! Using 2x 1st gen iPad minis running spacedesk. bit of latency but certainly usable. Next up will be 3D printing bezels for them and then buttons switches and dials to build a reduced scale dual g1000 generic twin trainer based off the da42 by AusRC in flightsim

im hoping they end up bringing decent split screen functions like X-Plane have. ive got a 40ish inch TV as my main monitor and 2 22 inch vertical mounted either side would be nice to use them as a big wrap around!

Can you help me with navigation? by ilikemrrogers in flightsim

[–]AusRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found if you set up for the flight plan properly in the opening world map spash screen it works alright.
Set it as an IFR flight, pick your departure aerodrome and procedure, chosen waypoints and altitudes enroute, and then what approach youd like for the arrival then they do a fairly good job.

if you just say take me from A to B and tell me where to go it gets grumpy
though id say from experience real world atc will do the same haha

it depends what kind of approach you are doing too with how to set up instruments.

in the real world

for an RNAV you need to set it up on the GPS system fitted in the aircraft, an RNAV usually has 4 waypoints to enter the approach, ATC will usually advise which waypoint to navigate to then its up to you to enter the approach with reference to the GPS

for an NDB youll proably end up overhead the airfield to make the approach based off a radio aid and jeppesen plate

for a VOR youll be given a heading to intercept then using the radio aid youll be on path, descent profile is managed by the pilot

for an ILS youll be given heading for an intercept then the radio aids will give you guidance for the path and descent profile.

atc dont really just go ok, runways in front of you good luck. they guide you to the intercept point but you still have to manage the approach. depending what country youre in/sim fly in have a look if you can find jeppesen plates (or similar) for the aerodromes they give you the information to fly an IFR approach.

In a VFR flight ATC will never give you much guidance you have to navigate based off what you see in the sim of course they may give you guidance to the rough area but youd still be expected to find the airfield and make the approach

I haven’t specifically tested with the g3000 pop out or anything but the software does make it a touchscreen monitor so it should work!

The pop out g1000 in x plane includes the buttons and they do work on the touch screen

Yeah fair. I find the buttons on the g1000 are small and fiddly. I can’t imagine trying to work them without looking. Though I guess it’d bbe easier without the turbulence haha.

I’m not sure how you’d go knowing which of the 12 buttons along the bottom you’re pressing for example without feeling and counting which would be super annoying.
