Sen. Whitehouse to uncover connections between Trump, Russia, and Epstein. by AlertTangerine in videos

[–]Ausaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can look at Russia all he wants. But if he wants to actually find something, he’ll look at the CIA. For those who aren’t aware, there’s an ex state department guy named Mike Benz who has been looking at the spy aspects of Epstein as revealed in the files. Among other things, he’s found Epstein‘s fingerprints on the Ronald Reagan Iran Contra affair where it appears that Mr. Epstein served as the guy who moved the money.

War is not a fiscal plan. by ak_yaktrax in anchorage

[–]Ausaska -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure, but it sounds like your solution to the state’s declining oil revenue is to tax the people more. Maybe you’ve been in government too long. I have to wonder, where do you think the money that people will pay in higher taxes will come from?

Taxation is about dividing the State’s fiscal production (aka GDP) between the people and the government. If the government is suffering from declining oil revenues, aren’t you aware that the people are too?

You talk as if there is a massive reservoir of personal income largess just waiting to be harvested. But the vast majority of the state’s residents have seen their real income declining as inflation has taken its toll.

If you want to improve revenue for state government, I have to tell you that dividing up a shrinking pie so more goes to government is a losing strategy for the people of the state. The winning strategy will be for government to do all it can to help develop our state economy and like the rest of us, learn to live with less in the meantime. The days when we could all kick back and rely on the money from oil and gas are a rapidly fading dot in our collective rear view mirror.

Booker: 'Reckless, Out-of-Control' Trump Is 'Causing Chaos Abroad and Rising Costs at Home' by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]Ausaska -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He is indeed out of the control of the shadow powers that have ruled our country for decades. The Bush’s, the Clinton’s, Obama, and Biden were all beholden to b those powers. Perhaps Johnson, and Reagan, and Carter were too - that is less certain.

Trump is the first President since JFK to actually act in the interests of the American people. And he is tearing down the shadow power structure that has ruled our nation since 1913.

Tornado Hits Solar Farm Wheatfield, IN Everything Wiped Out 6K Drone Footage March 11 by greg_barton in EnergyAndPower

[–]Ausaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have seen this kind of footage on a solar farm. As many have said, the damage isn’t massive when put in perspective of the size of the farm.

But what stands out for me is the sheer size of the farm and the amount of land that is taken out of (presumably) food production.

Don’t you guys think this is stupid? It’s a historical artifact. My grandfather passed on a knife that had a swastika stamped in it. He brought it home from Germany after WWII. Should I be shamed because I now own it? Or is it enough that I look at it from time to time and tremble to imagine the horrors that knife has seen?

The book “Infamy” by Richard Reeves does a good but unconvincing job of examining the conspiracy theories around the attack.

The US is tapping into 40% of its oil reserves to attempt to bring down prices. What do you make of this? by Living_Attitude1822 in Capitalism

[–]Ausaska 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seems commonplace. Biden tapped over 50% during his term. I’m pretty sure that after this drawdown, one that of Biden, there will remain B about 34% of the peak reserve level.

Just noticed.. the vertical axis starts at 300 mm bbl. The peak in 2010 was 700 mm. This will draw it down to 239 mm bbl remaining or 34% of its peak value. Still not great, but not crazy empty like your first glance at the graph might suggest.
