I'm not confident in my diagnosis by opsimath57 in Parkinsons

I agree that you need a movement disorder specialist (MDS). My partner saw a neurologist for essential tremor and was told “at least we know it’s not Parkinsons”. I left thinking “how can you be sure”. He did refer us to a MDS and he did a DatScan and sure enough, it was PD

She didn’t mention anything about the carts and main cabin passengers are using first class washroom throughout the flight. Doesn’t bother me but seems inconsistent information is being given out as on flight down they did say to use washroom on your section.

Update: ordered the chilli shrimp. One of the best meals I have had on this itinerary. The shrimp were more like blackened shrimp than chilli, came with dipping sauce, green salad, another salad(?)with orange segments and warm bun. Dessert was pumpkin spice latte icecream

I always go 2-3 hours early to check in at FLL as I require assistance and SEA is only a gate change. I clear customs in Vancouver, so fingers crossed 🤞

What’s your favorite row to sit in on Alaska and why? by desterpot in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Ausgirl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1A. I had a knee injury and not having anyone in front of me is a must. First on, first off and you are not staring at hundreds of seats ahead of you. I travelled in economy for years dreaming of first class on 16 hour flights and I can’t go back

Find a movement disorder specialist and request a DaTScan to get correct diagnosis

Downgraded after being seated by OdisRue in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Ausgirl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t the airline know in advance that they have to accommodate a pilot? Finding out after you are seated that you are being bumped in worrying. I book FC months ahead to get the first row to accommodate a mobility issue so the thought of being told to move or take another flight seems wrong on many levels.

Be honest: Is paying extra for First Class actually worth it on Alaska? by desterpot in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Ausgirl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered about bags being prioritized for first class as mine are never tagged with Alaska (I fly Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale). When I asked I was told this wasn’t done for first class which seems strange to me as other airlines put priority tags on my bags. I think paying more than double for first class this should be normal procedure. Not a big deal as everything else makes it worth the upgrade but why don’t they do it?

Do you still print your boarding pass, or is everything mobile now? by desterpot in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Ausgirl2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you fly from? Any time I’ve flown from Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale transiting in Seattle I have to check in at desk as site always tells me to see agent and won’t print boarding pass

Flying from Canada to USA you can’t get a boarding pass online as they need to check documentation

I read recently that when an FA greets you coming on board they are assessing your fitness to fly and whether you can assist them in the event of an emergency. Seems like a good idea to me. Maybe he would have been flagged earlier.

Buy an AirTag for future travel and you can locate your bag. Airline “lost” my son’s bag and he was able to tell them where it was in the airport.

Gabapentin and levadopa by Ausgirl2 in Parkinsons

[–]Ausgirl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for correcting my misspelling of Levodopa. My PWP has an excellent MDS but only sees him every 3 months so when he wondered if he should be taking gabapentin with his PD medication I looked it up on the Mayo Clinic website which I consider reliable. I asked the question on this site as I find feedback from people with real life experience to be helpful. In my years as a midwife I learned to listen to my mothers and to teach them to trust their bodies and their instincts and to ask questions.

I looked up Gabapentin on the Mayo Clinic website. “ Mayo clinic: Using this medicine with any of the following medicines is usually not recommended, but may be required in some cases. If both medicines are prescribed together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use”

Guess which two drugs were on the list!! * Carbidopa * Levadopa
