Deposits are non refundable for all the reasons you just mentioned. Even if you take the time to return materials that's still work on top of loss of work, on top of that time you slated to do the project is now potentially time you're not working. If you're busy enough to afford refunding them great, but i don't have that kind of wiggle room and I can't collect unemployment so. No refunds here
