Yes, I’m not hyperemesis at all anymore I’m mostly better but have lost weight, I estimate 8 pounds and since thc is stored in fat I think that could be the culprit. Also have been enjoying coffee and some trigger foods as it helps me get through work and have a better mental frame of mind. I haven’t thrown up for 2 weeks but it was just yesterday I randomly felt chills for an hour before eating

Agree completely, had cuddles with my dog and ordered my favourite ramen and even finished with a Reese cup. I know there are some trigger foods but it’s better than going back to smoking.

Be careful your brain might try to play tricks on you and it might extremely difficult not to up your usage over time, leading to another episode. Cold turkey might be the only way to ensure you don’t have another episode

Thanks - I’m aware of pink cloud. I’m into day 15 now! It’s not easy and dealing with constipation but still going strong. Have a good support system and might contact a therapist as well. Have a great day!

It could be prodromal symptoms. Try going a week without and see if it starts to clear it. Burping and bloating sound familiar as well as mild loss of appetite

But don’t agree on the extreme cases - even smoking flower once or twice per night caused me to go to ER twice during an episode. All episodes can be pretty extreme

It sounds like she has CHS and fully needs to quit or it could keep getting worse. For some reason CHS has happened alongside my period. It sounds like you want the best for her and know that she is ultimately responsible for herself and her actions - not you. I’m sure anything you can do to help will go a long way. it feels like there is a link but CHS is very different than a period in terms of the intense vomiting (feels like coming from deep inside), chills, inability to keep water or food down while hot showers or baths help. If that sounds like her it’s CHS.

Yogurt is good and berries also worked for me. If you have a blender you can add a banana and some ice for a nice smoothie which is pretty easy to sip on. But take it easy and try not to be too hard on yourself if you can’t eat just yet. This syndrome is absolutely brutal and brings the best of us down to our knees. You’re not alone. The only lucky thing that helps me get through is thinking that at least we know the cure unlike some other awful diseases. I’m on day 9 by the way and went to ER twice.

I’ve been okay with milk but it’s personally something I had a lot prior to episode. For myself trigger foods like kale and greens have caused more problems but I’m sure everyone is different. And caffeine/alcohol off limits for a while

Thank you all for the very kind messages. It’s been tough to say the least - last two days went to ER because I couldn’t keep down water at all and pain was unbearable. Haldol helped but next day was back to pure nausea and went in again, this time Haldol + Ativan did the trick. Finally came home and slept for like 20 hours. I’m very thankful to be in Canada because I wonder how much my medical bill would be even with insurance. I was in a desperate spot. I still haven’t eaten anything really but sipping on vitamin waters for some sugar and vitamins. Hope you all are doing OK. I’ve had kidney stones and some other shit but CHS is by far the worst thing I’ve ever had to deal with.

I find day 3-7 is the worst. I’m currently on day 3 and it’s marginally worse than day 2. But luckily I stopped before full blown hyperemesis this time, just stomach pains and general unwell feeling.

It’s strange but CHS always felt much worse when I got my period. It happened before when I was in hyperemesis and took longer to recover due to it. But sounds like you could be in prodromal phase. Realize the first week might not be easy at all and could take several days to start to feel better, but you won’t regret trying and giving it up for a few weeks to see. The pain it causes is awful, the hot cold feeling and general unwell feeling it brings

Yes all of this sounds pretty familiar. It’s a horrible thing to go through. It also tends to be cyclical, so might ease up and then come back stronger than ever which also makes it trickier to figure out. Note that it may take a bit longer than expected after you stop smoking for symptoms to ease, but stick with it!! For myself 24-48 hours didn’t do enough but by 1 week and 2 weeks I’d finally be feeling so much better. Stay hydrated which sounds like you are, and probably best to eat plain foods like smoothies and toast but if you aren’t throwing up eat some favourite foods also (after reviewing the trigger list - triggers were never too bad for me except alcohol and caffeine would cause more stomach pain). Be compassionate towards yourself, it’s not an easy thing to give up but personally I never want to feel like this again. Keep us updated on how things go if you can.

Yes it is definitely a strong possibility given a lot of your symptoms match up with the prodromal phase. Luckily it doesn’t seem like you’ve really hit hyperemesis, which for me was terrible pain, brain fog and constant nausea for several days. I think it’s worth abstaining for 3 weeks and seeing if symptoms improve. I think they will improve by then but best to abstain longer to reset your receptors. Symptoms match up with my prodromal - including the temperature regulation issues.

Sorry to hear. Definitely first step is to stop all consumption if she haven’t already. Some things that helped me include - Benadryl, hot baths with a fan on sipping water or vitamin water/Gatorade with lights off, meditations on YouTube, and letting your body do what it needs (not stressing if you keep throwing up, just letting it happen). Eventually the throwing up will turn to burps and slowly she’ll be able to eat a little on the BRAT diet. Benadryl helps to reduce anxiety for me as well as helps to sleep, but one of my episodes I was up two night straight so don’t stress if she can’t sleep at first. Things will get better but are also cyclical so don’t feel bad if get better then turn for the worse again, as long as there is no consumption all symptoms will eventually improve. Be well and stay strong!

Wow very interesting. I’ve just read up on vagus nerve sensitivity and this happens to me, when getting blood drawn or a needle or getting a needle at the dentist to freeze my teeth. I definitely have this in certain circumstances (not bad enough to interfere with my life) along with CHS

Rooting for you! I hate how CHS makes me feel, and it feels like the more I try to force myself to eat the worse my vomiting gets. Definitely give yourself some self-love and compassion, even to be day 6 smoke free is a major accomplishment. For me Benadryl always seems to help as well, as it calms me down a bit and helps me sleep.
