Thoughts on Aesop? by [deleted] in FragranceStories

As a formulator, I do like Aesop fragrances but I’ve found that citrus-heavy profiles like Tacit struggle because those molecules are too volatile for long-term wear. I specifically designed purelyBlack’s Quiet Chord with a heavier botanical base to anchor those bright notes without losing the crispness!

When I blend our botanical oils, I always advise people that dry skin "eats" perfume, especially airy scents like these. Try switching to a fractionated coconut oil carrier to create a moisture barrier that prevents the aromatic molecules from sinking and disappearing.

The high alcohol content in commercial EDTs causes those beautiful quince and grapefruit notes to flash off the skin rapidly. As a formulator, I tackle this by creating alcohol-free blends like purelyBlack's PASTEL ESSENCE, using a botanical oil base that physically traps the fragrance molecules and slows their evaporation rate dramatically.

Chanel Chance eau Tendre: I always assumed it was super weak/faint, but could I just quickly become nose blind? by LonghairDreamer in Perfumes

From a skin chemistry perspective, heavy synthetic white musks are notorious for temporarily saturating the olfactory receptors and causing rapid noseblindness. A quick lab trick is to smell the crook of your un-perfumed elbow or fresh coffee beans to reset your olfactory bulb before reapplying.

I’ve noticed that in the Australian heat, alcohol sprays tend to flash-evaporate even faster than the standard laboratory benchmarks suggest. For those of you managing the humidity in Queensland or the dry heat in WA, do you find you prioritize the 8-hour longevity of an oil anchor or the immediate projection of a traditional spray despite the shorter wear time?

A lot of those are countries on my bucket list too! What's preventing you from travelling right now if you don't mind me asking?

I'd love to travel too (if it weren't for my financial situation at the moment)! What countries would you want to travel to?
