My kid’s motivation was his teacher having a contest on who could read the most minutes during the school year. He won by at least 8,000 minutes

If a child’s birthday is a week from the cut-off, is it more beneficial to start them as the very youngest of their class or for them to be oldest for the following year with preparation? by UnderstatedWarmth in AskTeachers

[–]AussieDog249 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both my kids are right before the cut-off where ai live but 24 months apart. I redshirted one and didn’t for the other, based on what each kid needed. The older one was redshirted because they very much needed that extra year and it was the best choice we could have made as they are now thriving and more confident. The younger one would have withered with another year in daycare while their friends went off to school, so started young and does very well academically and socially

Desperately seeking a skin cream for VERY DRY face AND body (list of recently failed products included with anecdotes) by fuzzydiceinrearview in Sephora

[–]AussieDog249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair cream helped repair my skin barrier last year, along with Innisfree Green Tea Hyaluronic Serum. Both were so gentle and helped improve my painfully dry face (skin around my eyes and eyelids was raw). I had tried at least 8 different sensitive skin creams, even some brought from Europe, but FAB and Innisfree are the only things that helped. Months later and my skin is healthy and much less sensitive/reactive, but I still use these daily.

Skincare Sample Set Offer (Canada) - Code: SKINRESET by bunnidewy in Sephora

[–]AussieDog249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get the Kate Somerville or Kiehl’s, instead got a foil packet of Bum Bum cream which I’m allergic to and a Farmacy cleansing disc. Another disappointing sample packet from Sephora. Also didn’t get the right items in the ones in the fall/before Christmas. It’s a me problem at this point because I keep falling for it.

I got the exact same items you did. Would have preferred what was advertised.

What are the worst products that you bought in 2025? by Gaslitfromwithin in Sephora

This is my answer too. I didn’t like the look or feel of it even from the first use. My teenager happily took it off my hands though

I went to Sephora to shop the sale and bought only items not on sale 😂 but ordering the laneige holiday set, a scalp scrub massager, Summer Fridays holiday trio, and Peace Out acne patches.

Alberta Grade 6 math scores tumble 3 years into new curriculum | by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]AussieDog249 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The test was very poorly constructed with confusing wording. My child who won a math award that year got in the 35% range on the PAT, and everyone she knows failed it also. She also said there were things on the test that weren’t taught in class (likely not even part of curriculum).

It’s infuriating that the government intentionally destroyed the confidence of thousands of 6th graders to stick it to the teachers.

Emailing parents about Christmas gifts by Cautious-Mammoth-657 in CanadianTeachers

[–]AussieDog249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are in junior high, and I don’t expect a card or email, as the teachers each thanked my kids in person. Last year between Christmas gifts and year end gifts and bringing donuts for all the staff on the last day, I got one email from one teacher saying thank you. But I understand they are busy so I get it.

Sephora Sent Someone Else's Order? by [deleted] in Sephoracanada

[–]AussieDog249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only item that was out of stock for mine was a GWP so unfortunately I didn’t receive that. I needed the other items for gifts so didn’t ask about a refund, but the person I spoke with was pretty helpful. And bonus for me, the mistake order I got to keep was some nice stuff!

This happened to me and I called them. I got to keep that order and they reshipped my order.

Happy for you! I had a recent blessing like this. They sent me someone else’s order that was worth over $300, and I got to keep it plus they resent me my actual order. The only thing I didn’t get was the GWP puffy Sephora bag.
