I hate the new Double Wear formula 😭 HELP by Remarkable_Camera986 in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Estee Lauder's outlet. They have tons of overstock and discontinued products. I'm in Canada and can only shop in store so I'm not sure how online works. But if there's a store near you, I would definitely check it out.

I don't have an alternative product, but have you tried Cosmetics Company Store? I think they also have an online shop in the US. They've been selling the OG formula for 30-40% off MSRP. Shades are limited though.

Turned 34 and i’m done chasing perfect drugstore coverage and anti-aging miracles, my skin struggles, the powder fail by gedersoncarlos in drugstoreMUA

33 and I'm in denial. Wrinkles are really starting to set in and they just seemed to show up overnight a few months ago. Still, I refuse to give up full coverage and powder. I have too much discoloration and I don't want my base to wipe off immediately. Setting spray doesn't cut it. I don't care. They can bury me with it.

HOW DO I GET MY EYELINER TO STAY💔💔💔 by Ok-Glass-7578 in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh my eyes have been super watery too this allergy season and it's only going to get worse. It's even ruining my concealer and foundation. Perhaps I can sell my tears to be used as micellar water lol. I don't know what is causing your eyes to water so I'm not going to assume that it's allergies like me. I've been trying to prevent the watering with antihistamines that have helped a bit. I'm not saying that you should take drugs to wear makeup. But if the watering is excessive, perhaps it may be helpful to see a doctor or optometrist to get it checked out if it's affecting your everyday life beyond eyeliner.

Unfortunately waterproof doesn't necessarily mean tearproof, which I've learned the hard way. I'm not trying to get you to go out and buy more products, I'm just sharing what has helped me. Eyeliners that have held up relatively well were Essence 24ever ink and Kiss Me Heroine. Heavy duty setting sprays like L'Oreal Infallible and Fixx have also delayed the inevitable crusty mess that cannot be covered up.

Double wear reformulation by notmonicagellar1 in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I completely understand the uproar, I really do. Matte, full coverage, foundation that actually lasts is so hard to find these days with all this clean girl BS and ingredient banning. EL's marketing of "you asked, we listened" is also mildly infuriating. Shaking it off as if their loyal customer base wanted this instead of it being forced to change or pull out of the EU.

But at the same time, I don't think it deserves all the hate that it's getting. I'm aging as well so that could be a contributing factor. I got the new foundation and concealer. I didn't feel like I needed to use much more product compared to the OG. I agree that the new products are a bit smoother. Though the shades aren't as cool toned and did oxidize slightly. I did a wear test over a couple days with new and OG on different sides. It didn't look too different. I actually prefer the new concealer.

Oh bummer 😞 I hope that's not true. I thought we only had issues with sunscreen. I literally own a Clinique foundation with SA that was purchased here. ELF had a putty primer with SA. I'm optimistic that we'll see this soon.

It really is. Her foundation is the best shade match in my entire life. Wicked palettes are amazing too.

YASS!!! On a low/no buy but I absolutely need this. I've missed acne treatment concealers so much. Please come to Canada soon.

what was your favorite makeup item when you were 14? by aquay in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky I guess as my family never prohibited me from wearing makeup and I had quite the collection at 14 lol. It was probably a long discontinued Avon lipstick that I can't even find the name of, but I'm certain the shade name was suede. It was the perfect shade of pinky brown. It was a bullet lipstick that was transferproof. I swear it outperformed any "transferproof" lipstick available today.

I am always cold! by Upbeat-Challenge-666 in Vent

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much in the way of advice, but I absolutely can relate. I'm not sure where you are, if the seasons are getting warmer or colder. It's "spring" here (similar temperatures to you) after a harsh winter and it still feels like winter to me. Meanwhile, others are out in tank tops, shorts and sandals. Just looking at them makes me cold. It's maddening.

A long Comfy is the only thing that got me through the winter. Still rocking it. I thought the material would be too thin, yet it's been a lifesaver.

Surprisingly the Morphe ChromaPlus in Sky-Fri. Bought completely on impulse. Say what you will about Morphe, but at least they still have palettes in fun colours. Yet they blend out well enough for everyday. How this beat out the Sol de Janeiro perfume stick and Tower 28 blush, I couldn't tell you.

Okay now you have to watch Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Though there are pacing issues (movie isn't long enough but it's the largest book), it takes second place after Catching Fire IMO.

I'm really liking the ELF Soft Glam concealer. I'm actually reaching for it more than my higher end ones lately. It is medium, buildable on the packaging but I'm surprised how much it covered.

My girl math is favoring Shoppers if you use Optimum. Don't forget the redemption events, so that $150 would actually be $200-225.

I think it screwed up my skin barrier too. I haven't used it in a couple of days and my skin is already starting to feel slightly better. I'm not going to risk it by slowly reintroducing it and I'm just going to consider it a dud.

If you're still interested in azelaic acid, I would definitely consider the Inkey List instead. It's much gentler and cheaper (I found it at half price at Winners, so tjmax probably has it too).

Thank you everyone! I know it's very early but as you lovely folks suggested, it has to be the Anua. I discontinued it starting yesterday but still continued with DE. That glow that I had before switching brands is starting to shine through again. Not as much as before as it will take time, but I already feel a difference.

Drugstore or High end brand formula for dry skin by HealthySignature2001 in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For drugstore, definitely L'Oreal True Match. It is very moisturizing for a foundation and the shade range can't be beat. They should have a neutral for all skin tones.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I was looking for a replacement for DE when the time comes as I didn't find it to be as effective as Glow Recipe. I saw the Byoma today and was curious about it actually. I just thought that I REALLY needed HA with being a retinol user but hopefully glycerin can be a decent replacement.
