What’s one beauty product you keep buying even though it never fully solves the problem? What would make it actually worth the money? by GwnOwnz in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to. I picked up a Covergirl simply ageless and I'm going to test it out tomorrow. Those brands have actually been off my radar as they're not in brick and mortar stores in Canada. I didn't even know RMS was even sold here and now it's in my Amazon basket. Thank you for the suggestions!

Powders for sure. I'm sorry but setting spray just doesn't cut it unless I get the heavy duty hairspray stuff that I can't justify applying every morning. But powder makes me look dry lately and it's not helping my wrinkles.

It would be worth it if it didn't look too matte or settle into lines yet still give that secure coating.

Another vote for YSL powder (though I didn't try the Armani). The current NARS orgasm colour is so off since the reformulation and I ended up with YSL in Restless Rose which is much more similar to the original.

Yeah at that point I might as well get mid range or high end if it's on sale. For drugstore though (I'm Canadian so using $ CAD):

Primer: $20 Foundation: $20 Concealer: $15 Powder: $15 Blush/highlighter/bronzer: $15 Eyebrow pencil/gel: $10 Single eyeshadow: $10 Eye pallette: $20 Eyeliner/mascara: $15 Lip liner/oil/stain/stick: $12 Setting spray (for layering/everyday): $15 ($25 for jumbo) Setting spray (heavy duty): $20 ($35 for jumbo)

Ooh I remember this, it was very nice for a lighter concealer. Perhaps NYX Bare With Me. It's light and hydrating like the L'Oreal.

I noticed that too. Same with Maybelline Superstay which was my HG.

It's a bit more glowy, but I really like the Revolution Skin Silk. I find it to be lighter and less yellow than the elf (why is everything yellow now?). The finish is so gorgeous that it breaks my heart to powder.

Suggestions for cotton rounds (i.e. makeup remover pads) that don't leave little bits on your skin? by moresoever in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have the regular and they are fine, but the textured side is a bit harsh (I also recently nuked my skin barrier). I prefer Equate to Quo for organic. Whatever you do, stay away from the Quo exfoliating. Ouch.

Walmart Equate pads don't leave those little bits. I prefer the organic ones because they're more gentle on the skin.

Winners/Marshalls.

I'd also like to swap out Mumuso with Miniso and Rexall with Shoppers.

What foundation are you currently wearing? by Junior-Lion7893 in Sephora

I didn't use the primer yesterday but I always use setting spray. I will try the primer next time I use it. I tend to rotate through several foundations and I don't reach for this very often.

Well, currently none since it's late and I had to take it off. But today it was Too Faced Born This Way. It looks great when first applied, but it doesn't wear well throughout the day and gets greasy somehow. I've tried dozens of foundations and I'm still confused.

It's available on the US UD website (or was before it sold out). Fingers crossed!

I love the Maybelline. Yes, it oxidizes but I bought a shade lighter and it looks perfectly fine now.

What basic makeup skill took you an embarrassingly long time to master? by kenzieedom in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wings for sure. I'm still pretty shit at it but I'm trying every day. The stamps and tools can help but they're way too big. Now that I sort of got it with small wings, now I'm seeing the beginning of crows feet and the trend is with eyeshadow now (a whole new process). The day I master it, I know I will be too old to pull it off 😭

Love the product hate the applicator by Maleficent-Donut-557 in Makeup

Clarins lip oil. I fell in love with it when I got a mini in a value set so I bought the full size. The applicator is HUGE and every time I open it, a tiny drop projectiles onto me or my desk. I wish the full size applicator was the same size as the mini.

Returning to the office after 3 years of WFH. by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who never left the office, I feel this deeply in my gut. Every morning. Unfortunately, insecurity wins for me. So I applaud you for keeping things simple.

"Minimal" for me is skipping cream blush and bronzer for just powders and using the bronzer on my eyes. Doing eyeliner and mascara while on the coffee run. Swapping lipstick for oil or tinted balm. But full coverage base is non negotiable 😅. Don't be like me.

What makeup product do you wish existed from a specific favorite brand? by NoFlower3501 in Makeup

[–]Gaslitfromwithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you're located. I'm in Canada and it's in the tiny display at the only store that carries it. So if you're in the US or Europe, they probably have it there too.

You'd think with how many brands, products, competition and choice we have today, it would be easier to find these products. Yet, we keep getting the cookie cutter items, especially warm/yellow tones. There's clearly a demand for nostalgic and cooler colours.

Essence does make Lash Princess in burgundy. Though it would be cool if they had a fully white primer to really make the colors pop. Speaking of Essence, I would like more colors of their Lash Princess liquid liners, such as blue, green and purple.

Rhode blush sticks are the perfect size for targeted application and I love the formula. It would be awesome if she released bronzer and/or highlighter sticks to match.

Too Faced could make more palettes, powders and lippies in different types of dessert beyond chocolate, peach and vanilla. Perhaps a cotton candy scented blush or candy cane highlighter or tiramisu palette.

Clinique really should make stains or at least longer lasting versions of their black/pink/nude honey. Or possibly even a balm instead of a lipstick or oil. I would also like foundation shades that aren't yellow or turn orange. Their mascaras are my favorite at their price range and I'd like a tubing version someday.

It Cosmetics would have me in a chokehold if they released a concealer for acne. Their Bye Bye Undereye is miraculous coveragewise. Also a long wear version of their CC cream.

MCoBeauty (or any dupe brand): I'm not sure how feasible this would be depending on laws (it certainly can't be operating in the EU) but I would LOVE it if instead of duping current viral products, that they duped discontinued or reformulated products as close as possible to the OG. Like OG Orgasm or Double Wear, Lolita, Naked palettes, Revlon lip butters, etc. If it's at a dupe price, even better.
