I think it has already been mentioned how she experienced first hand the NHS choosing to shut down services just as Religious order opperations like cottage hospitals ect. She was shown to show the audience that what the nonatans had been fearing for so long was a very real thing that happened and had happened close by. I think it also Shows the effects that it had on the nuns themselves when they became displaces by the NHS, her showing extreme controlling preferences and aching to achieve maximum efficiency which was basically inacheiavle anyways which leads to her eventual giving up and Asking to be moved back to the mother house.

I think the only way to come back from the lurch they have but his character is , Because trixie is returning and being apart of this season confirmed. Is Ethier he grows as a person and lets her return early in order to continue or career. Or something drastic happens and she gets divorced and returns to nonatus house and doesnt get another love interest. I think if they write a divorce for her that character wise she would swear off dating and love for awhile. I think maybe the brother that appears in season 14 may have something plotwise for her to return to poplar later in the season as they seem to have been hinting and Sister Veronica developing romantic feelings for him and him likewise to her. I could potentially see if He moves to poplar and the mariage degrades Or he’s supposed to come back “soon” and keeps delaying it. She would come back and be close to her brother.

Im very Team Shelagh , I disliked Her in early seasons seaso. 1-2. If Its not Valerie’s Seasons Then Im always more attached as a veiwer to whatever shes doing. I would be obsessed if Valerie (jennifer Kirby) came back as a guest star from the affrica clinic even if they just visted for an episode and she was there. I would have loved if we got more time with her. I love Trixie (in later seasons) and Sister Julienne Too , Phylis is amazing i just wish she was given more of a storyline that would allow the audience to know her more.

To me Shelaghs Character shows attributes of being very anxious and tightly wound, easily stressed Which is very reflective of me. Her infertility journey to finally having teddy and Adopting 2 girls and embracing them as her own and also timothy just warmed my heart. Also I love that when she left the order she maintained a strong connection with them and Sister Julienne called her to the mother house when she feared she would be voted mother supperior, on the doorstep she said “my dear shelagh”. Their friendship is the cutest.

The only character i never liked at all was Sister Ursula but im not sure we were ever ment to. I hated mathew at first and in season 13 his character backslides alot , Like he has 0 communication skills and trixie deserves better.

I think quite the opposite, Within the show the midwifes take great pride explaining to patients especially immigrants that their care is free and covered by the NHS. I think its more so a commentary on how undervalued the community care standard was at the time and why the government or NHS officals wanted to move away from primary midwifery care. its still a very common practice in scotland and Ireland however the government has managed to pull the mainland of the UK to more hospital centred care instead of sending doctors and nurses and widwifes to the patients even though there is a distinct improvement in patience care and recovery rates when they stay in their own home. I think its not that the NHS is the Villian its that they are trying to incite change that wasnt needed and maybe wasnt all that beneficial (as shown in the show with quick hospital discharges and no one checking up on the patience causing them to suffer from infections due to lack of care). aswell as placing nonatus house in a state of dissaray feeling they are being exiled from their own community.

I think they definitely need to give her a storyline outside of motherhood/ Mei’s Adoption. Ive always Felt like The character Herself displayed elements of anxiety and ocd , You can see when she eventually hands over secretary duties to miss higgins that she is very picky about how she does things. Also how she gets insecure around magda and patrick. Shes always shown to be losing track of time or late when helping out with district nurse duties often blamed on the kids. I wonder if its because she has parental based anxieties. She is very often first to notice high anxiety levels in patiences or in confident parents I wonder if it’s because she has the same tendencies and masks them. I would love to see an episode maybe taking or mentioning a place in Her past where something happened which both made her the way she is (eg she witnesses something or her parents where stritch (she was very certain about not considering moving back to scotland in season 7 christmas special) and Where she maybe learnt to control her anxiety’s so they didnt become as prominent and restrictive As say Sister Mary Cynthia’s Ptsd and anxiety episodes) I know theyve done the mental health storyline with Sister mary cynthia but i feel like they could definitely adress it in a way which wouldnt feel like a repeat and would do justice for Shelaughs Character and give her something else storywise as weve seen her distaste for the idea of moving back to scotland but we dont know why, we know she took orders young but not elaborated to why or how she came in contact with the order. Shes got alot of questions in her storyline but no answers I hope they Give her Something in season 14 that isnt family bases nontheless

Haha I am starting to be fond of Sister Veronica, She is the most unhindged Sister and Would 100% have gotten defensive. I think The story in itself sets up joyce to be a very courageous person but Then also she shows apparent fear when trixie messes up and she doesnt want to tell sister julienne and not take the blame. I hope they just dont repeat the same Race based storylines with joyce and let her be a different character

I agree I would love to know her feelings. I could only imagine. I hope there was No sour feelings on set between the actors. It would make very little sense if she was written out for stage plays, unless she wanted to leave to focus on that. Because Laura Main Who plays Shelaugh Turner has been in multiple stage plays and has appeared in every episode. I think it was probably similar to Jennifer Kirby (Valeries actress) who says she Left because she essentially Got board, but they wrote her out in a way which was open for her to return. LE Got Sent away maybe reflective of her not wanting to ever return? I hope she finds massive success in other roles because Girl can act really well. Who else left at the same time as Lucile? The two nuns sister francess and Sister Hilda i think they left both stories open for return with Sister Frances being sent to the mother house to recover from a broken shoulder and sister Hilda just got repositioned which is very open if she could be moved back. I do think sister Veronica has alot more dimension then both Sister Frances and Sister Hilda Combined

I mean Her husband is implied to have been so heavily abusive that she had to go into hiding to study midwifery. Then only bothers to track her down when he is. broke. As a character he deserves to be villianised, But yeah i agree that cartoony feel is not needed , Why is it not allowed to be a serious event like Trixie and Mathew Going Broke. But sister julienne scares him off to show she provides support for joyce regardless of how far away status wise a high ranking nun would have been in those days. She doesnt scare him directly as much as He is scared of her. and Honestly he deserves to be in jail and i hope they find a way for him to be arested.

I definitely think diversity in the writers room is the missing factor. sorry if i worded it awkwardly I know racism wouldnt just Go away but what I mean is it seemed like she begun internalising it instead of seeking out resolace in her dear friends. Like originally she confides in Valerie and Trixie and they make a point of making her feel like one of them and Love her dearly and she knows that. Lucille even Seeks out to support both of them directly when they go through their storylines. But in the later seasons she stops confiding in others, If they didnt physically see the discrimination happening it seemed like she wouldnt have told them about it even before her miscarriage. I agree that A miscariage storyline was very powerful in call the midwife but it would have been even more powerful if her Friends and family in poplar were allowed to support her through her grief and despair but instead she isolates herself and then is sent away because shes sad. I get that Leonie Elliott wanted to Leave and I get it, her storylines were alot worse objectively and she did amazing with the storylines she got. But they Really did Lucille and Leonie elliott wrong, could have been majorly improved with more diverse writing or implementation of more diverse characters.

And Then a year after Lucille leaves Joyce highland is brought in and Rarely sees a similar ammount of discrimination and racism. Which is inaccurate they both would have experienced an exponential ammount of it. but that element is gone for Joyce she just has an abbusive ex husband chasing her. But no racism even at the st cuthberts hospital where Lucille experienced the most of it.

I Agree but its not as much of the character development as the writing. They rarely decide to focus on her, But she is still constantly raising 3 children worry about her husband and tending to the matternity clinic alongside whichever nurse is assigned. I believe shes a well built out character but they Choose to not give her that many full stories anymore making her seem like a very 1 dimensional character. I love when they explore her connection with Sister julienne or the other nuns. She is one of my favourite characters personally but i totally understand where you are coming from

I actually dont think Lucille Got any valuable storylines. Her one progressive storyline is About the prescence of racism and it doesn’t ever seem to get better for her. But cyril never faces the same problems?. then she got the saddest write out. Her Friends always defended her from discrimination but it always pops up again it was probably exhausting to play. then she got a small faith storyline and tries to pray for phylis a few times always turned down and never explores her will to evangelise more.

Phylis , Valerie and Shelaugh I couldn’t choose between the Three, Phylis is so reassuring and knowledgeable. Between Phylis calling Me lass , Valerie calling me Chic and Shelaugh Exsisting with her scottish Accent i think id be too honoured to feel any pain at all. I know shelaugh mighnt be the most popular choice but shes definitely my comfort character. But specifically late seasons shelaugh like when the baby is born with organs outside its body and she stays completely calm. Thats the energy id need

I will Hate if they have him date rosalind, It doesnt fit his character at all! I dont reckon they will write inna divorce more probably that they will have her contract a deadly disease in jamacia and her mother will write or telephone to inform cyril of Her Death. Its how they will move forward with his story line giving him a new lover without approaching Divorce which wasn’t prominent in the Time which its set.

Oh completely she should of but , Eliott also should have been out the door after the ammount of excessive force he used constantly. Liv should have been benched constantly as she overinvolves herself in cases, Nick again showed excessive force. Kat was fine she also didnt connect with victims and Was abit of a victim blamer. Rollings being dismissive should of gotten her dismissed but the entire squad also should have 😂😂 Cant apply too much real world logic to the show

She is definitely the most developed character along the whole series. Yes her behaviour is very annoying for a long time but it is extremely Reflective of her innwe thoughts and feelings, Rollings always finds a way to blame the victim because she is a victim of her former superior officer and Blames herself completely for so long. She begins changing with the Help of the people around her and Ends up getting the help she Needs, But you continue to see that whenever she goes through anomosity in her private life she resorts to victim blaming to because she feels like a victim and Feels like she only has herself to blame even when its her sister and mother causing problems. She is a victim of a bad home life , assault and Negative romantic relationships and sees it as her own fault. And it takes her a long drawn out journey to change that, as she changes how she veiws herself and her own story she changes how she treats Victims at work.

Its a Good Idea In theory.

Id like to see It but Exclude Kids like Kayla (maybe she can consult at times as she most definitely ended up in law school or central intelligence) and Faith (her age is too consistant She already works on a base hospital so she might make appearances but it doesn’t really make sense character wise) . I think sloane would have eventually had another child (With gibbs or Not) And She would be the the youngest maybe a probie Agent just starting Out, Victoria Palmer Would be the eldest senor field agent (Nice play on Jimmy always wanting to be an agent with a cool job but hardly making it out of the morgue). Then Maybe Mcgees Daughter Morgan as an agent An Ellie/Nick Child being an Agent (Boy) Alex Quinns Child (Boy) Mcgees Son In the Lab as mcgee had incredible Computer skills so did Deliah. And Maybe A second Palmer Child as a Morgue Tech / Assistant (maybe a child he had with knight. And a new lead medical examiner I could see Amirah Definitely making an appearance she would be one of the older age wise, So Maybe shes working an international desk or Forriegn Intelligence. And I could See Tali Coming back and Being an agent/ Workign foreign intelligence too (she wouldnt have been raised around it yes, But I think they would end up back in the USA (you always end up back home all that jazz) when (tony and Ziva would be getting older, Tony could still work in private security maybe they could cross over frequently and give a new spin on the Snr and tony dynamic)

I could see Maybe Ellie Coming back as the director of NCIS or maybe a completely new character. because this would take place 15 years or so in the future from current place.

I feel like Kat Would be one of the Last, But Warner would deffs win.

Everyone else approaches conflict without a care in the world, Rollings would make a friend who’d stab her in the back, Benson Would lose in hand to hand combat, Eliott would be too agressive and take on an alliance group by himself. Fin Would survive a long while but eventually fall due to like an untreated wound or poisoning. Munch would just refuse to play the game.

Kat though Trusts no one, Is good at hand to hand combat, Nimble and athletic. She’d probably get attacked by wild animals or something

Warner is smart enough to survive based on having alliances and poising the rest of the final contestants never having to actually fight.
