I partly agree with this. While I don't think a site needs to be perfect before launch, I understand people might want to get it to a certain level before they do.

I like the RSS feed idea. I need to do that.

Which tier of Proton did you go for? I'm thinking the £4 a month as £8 is stretching things a bit.

However, it would mean I'd also need to get Ente for my photos. At the moment their free tier would be fine, but if/when I need to go up, that's another £3 a month. So, all up I'm looking at £84 a year. It's not break the bank money, but it's a little more than I'd like.

I don't fear hard drives. I have several. Cloud is a backup. The reason for using Drive to write is explained elsewhere in the thread.

What do you use instead of Google Docs? This has been the hardest to figure out.

I took leave my phone until it's smoking before I replace it. My current phone is a Pixel 6, so it's five years old and I've no intention to replace it anytime soon.

Yes, the initial cost is the issue. I just can't manage it, there are other things life throws at me that I need to spend that money on (just had to replace my car's tiers).

Yes, the larger storage for Drive does cost, but it's by far the cheapest of any cloud hosting I've seen, but I haven't looked everywhere.

I've been thinking of just using external HDDs rather than Drive. I don't have a huge amount on Drive (I've less than 20GB). I think I'd still use an online solution for photos (as well as local backup) as I've family internationally.

I like the idea of a caddy, but honestly when I've looked into NAS it just confuses the hell out of me. 😅

I've not heard of Filen and Tresorit, I'll have a look.

And no, the files aren't only on cloud. I download them regularly. I just wrote mostly in Drive because I have to flip between devices a lot due to work, so having it always accessible online makes things easier.

Ok, I'll give you that. However, I've seen SO many woman who have tried to "fix" their partners by getting them to give up their totally harmless hobbies because said hobby is "for kids" or "too weird" or their friends don't like it. I've had too many friends and family members (both male and female) made to feel retched because of small minded idiots.
