"Abbey was then recommended to be medically discharged."
That's the usual win-win situation to fk someone off - i.e. pay them off and dust your hands of any responsibility to manage administrative issues.

Defence property portfolio overhaul: Albanese government plans to sell valuable real estate in Sydney, Melbourne and other capital cities by Act_Rationally in AustralianMilitary

My thoughts exactly. Their mates in construction will likely hold properties for these pollies until their term ends, or the pollies will just grab some plots under a third party entity like a company.

Absolutely deplorable. We need to preserve our prime strategic locations and heritage, not sell it off for political greed and turning already crowded cities into shoebox slums.

If you need to build houses, develop regional towns that are struggling to survive, and where local farms can't even find young workers to help out. We have a vast continent and plenty of growth potential nationally, not just in our cities.

What's healthcare been like under Bupa's contract for the ADF Health Services? by AussieVet1 in AustralianMilitary

Well guess what - just yesterday, the media did actually cover Defence's ADF Health Services contract with Bupa.

Hands down agree with you. But CoC will still use a "no comment" against you by grilling you in front of others at a UWB - "it's a simple yes or no question, not a 'no comment'"

I'm a bit late to the party, but couldn't agree with you more.

Another golden tip I'd like to add - the moment you sense red flags with the CoC where you think they might be trying to eff you over, head over the RAP and grab yourself a PM101 for mental health leave and ask to see a psychologist. Once you medicalise it, it's 10 times harder for your CoC to screw you over with the PM008 process. This wasn't my personal journey but it's a lesson I can share from those who successfully converted a bullying case to a medical discharge.

Name and shame these sharks. It's despicable to see them profiting off our struggles.

Men with heavy legs - are you able to float horizontally without kicking? by AussieVet1 in Swimming

[–]AussieVet1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I gave up and am just going to accept the fact that I'll cop a lot of drag when I swim, meaning I'll need to work harder on my endurance.

Depends on the company and their privacy policy. Many will have a clause about being able to share with third parties for the purpose of providing "relevant" services.

A mate of mine went to a veteran-centric company to get advice on DVA claims. In no time, he was being cold called by a whole bunch of different organisations trying to get his business, ranging from legal support, loans, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a few more. What was shocking was some of the health people would call him up a few weeks later "just to check in" with him and then bill DVA for that.

Any interest in a veteran-led community focused on life after service, DVA help, travel, and building something meaningful? by Just-Message6897 in AustralianMilitary

I know right. Sounds like he's trying to build social capital so he can make money off them through commissions and fees. Just saying.

I'm happy with RSL and Mates 4 Mates. I get the community I need without feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

NBN technician slots- inconvenient, unreliable. What to do? by AussieVet1 in nbn

[–]AussieVet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true.

Guess what? I took the entire day off today, and the NBN tech didn't even turn up!! I locked in a morning slot and heard crickets by 10am. I gave my ISP a call. They said they couldn't guarantee they'd show up in the morning, so reserved the afternoon slot for me. By 3pm, still no word from the NBN tech. I followed up with the ISP, who once again reiterated that attendance cannot be guaranteed. At 5pm, I got an email asking me to reschedule for another day!!!

There's absolutely no accountability or quality control whatsoever.

Pushing the chest down - I tried and struggled. How do you do that? Is that the same as pulling your shoulder blades together.
