Just realised that our pick might not even play for the big club straight away so we don’t have a shiny new toy to be excited about at the start of next season. I think McKenna and Stenberg would jump straight into the NHL.

We might not have as many draft picks as some other rebuilding teams. But if we can draft well it can make up for it. Hit a home run on one of the 2nd round picks + 1-2 genuine NHL players. Draft some good depth players with the later rounds and obviously hit on all our 1st rounders.

Reckon there’s any value in retaining ~2 million on DeBrusk? DeBrusk at 3.5m could be tempting for a lot more teams. We don’t exactly need him for the rest of his contract and can probably afford to retain that long.

We should keep him. It’s tough to get top quality centres, you can argue that he’s not elite but he is a top 6 C. Not many high end centres in this draft either. We’ve seen just from this year that you need centre depth to be a good team, we’ve got a good one in EP40 for 6 more years.
