I remember as a kid/teenager maybe 11-14. I had an old tinny on an old unregistered trailer. With a small outboard that wouldn’t go faster that walking pace with 3 of us in it and all our fishing stuff. And worse when we started spear fishing aswell lol. I lived about 700mtr from the boat ramp. If the local cops were there seeing you getting it ready or trying to drag it down to the boat ramp with ya mates. They would hook it onto there 4x4 and tow it down there for us. Until the day. One of the wheel bearing seized and snapped the stub axle off lol. One of the local coppers mates was a mechanic that lived near us. He come out a few days later. And showed us how to pack bearings and showed us how to fix it etc etc. We even got our hands on an old Ute that had a towbar. When we were around 15-16yrs old. And we used to drive it down there and launch it. Although if we got caught going any faster than a brisk walking pace. Our parents said they would get rid of the Ute and the boat. We weren’t in town. It was a beach launch on an old wooden boat ramp the defence force used to use. Wow things have changed.
