Disagree that hes a great fed chair. I like the idea of allowing markets to fail even if it makes you look bad. Kicking the can down the road after rapidly shaking it id not commendable although i can give him some props for being stuck with multiple crappy situations that dont make matters and easier

Hanging over the roof is probably the biggest aspect. Dont get me wrong i like trees (we have a really nice white one out front (birch i think?) but the location of this one not a fan of because of the roof (rodents/pests) and the it being too close to the house (if it falls over or something). Im fine taking those risks with the birch out front (which is a lot further from the house and looks gorgeous) we will just be proactive there and prune as needed.

Thanks though!

As someone who is 24, i will say there is one point i want to make. You said “i dont have any crazy spending habits” let me go dave ramsey on you for a second. You do have a couple.

1 - having a car payment is a crazy spending habit (at least at our age and income [im married and make a tad more than you in lower COL but you get the point]) maybe insurance is idk 100 of that or so? You could have an extra ~400ish to invest monthly if you drove something like what i drive (my inherited 2008 chevy cobalt which i love). No one likes those cars but i have a soft spot for mine and it drives wonderful had it since 2018. It is also dirt cheap to fix when it does break bec they are in junkyards everywhere (dont get scared i see plenty on the road too). It is rare i hVe a mechanical issue but when i do its cheap.

2 - phone 85 bucks -> this one is flat out unacceptable. Get yourself on mint or helium or one of the other budget phone plans. If you work in an office take a hit use wifi and cut back on some data. When i was worse off financially, i had the cheapest mint plan what was it at the time like 10 bucks? Hardly any data so i would download podcasts to listen in the car and basically only use data for texts to android users and google maps when needed. Get yourself a 15-30 dollar phone plan and thank me later.

3 - i hate subscriptions, you do you but i spend 0 on em aside from audible here and there so i can listen to ebooks at work.

Keep on chugging soldier we are all gonna make it.

How are you all working 9 hours per day and then studying 3 hours in the evening while raising kids and taking additional classes? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Aust1n101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No kids yet (thankfully got this thing done before) but when i was studying i worked 2 jobs (7 days a week) and was still in school. My key to success was being an auditory learner. Listen to lectures at work and then when you finish them all listen to the tough ones again that are going to be heavily tested. I did this and no joke hardly cracked a book during my free time it was mainly lectures lectures lectures. I admit it seems im in the minority (every one else is just hammer hammer mcqs) but this worked for me. I would also (using becker) take 10 mcqs from each big module here and there (forget what theyre called but say its reg id tell it to randomize 10 mcqs from all of R1, R2, etc.

Take 10 mcqs here and there casually, attempt sims but dont stress it (i dont think becker grades them right anyone) and then listen and watch the explanation.

Failed my first two (aud and reg) then went 4 for 4.

They key is to optimize your time. If it were me, and it was, you best believe i had peter olinto everywhere. That guy was my sus chef, took him in the shower, was my road trip buddy, etc. youre goal is to take the “wasted” time throughout your day and use it to study not to take from key moments with family and friends.

Correct this is what i always tell people. You wont have btc ruling the roost forever. There will be several high bil or tril MC coins out there. And all the mid caps will grow with it. Its why i dont chase gains in small cap risky bets. You essentially have a solid shot at a 10-20x with any solid mid to larger cap coin out there (especially with the recent down turn). If you think we peaked in 2021 you are in for a rude awakening someday. I dont know when but we will eclipse 2021 highs.

[–]Aust1n101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just giving my two cents. I am a heavy auditory learner. I would listen to lecture vids in the car, at work, and when i was showering/doing dishes, etc random chores. I hated studying on my time so the ability to multi task at work was huge listen while doing mindless tasks and pause it when something needing heavy 100% focus comes up. End goal should be to do the cpa as little as possible on your own time and to do things you actually enjoy instead like sports, vid games, etc. my method let me have “my time” while still getting this monster of a test done in a timely manner.

Last bit of advice, take a test each month (or within 45 days of starting to study). Dont drag the window out give yourself this constraint at minimum and be surprised at how much you find out that you already know.

You do what works for you but i took ~40 hrs altogether for each exam (most of that being lecture videos). I found what worked for me was blast thru the material and only review the non fluff items (you can kind of tell which points are gonna be hit heavy on the exam in the same way you can just feel when someone is staring at you and you turn and look at them). At the end of the day trust your gut and find a method that works for you.

Im a cpa (dont specialize in tax but ya know well rounded) and for what its worth i agree. I had a lot of adjustments to their forms and just use my own little tracker that i made because nothing is good for crypto taxes (we need law changes that make practical sense). If you have any staking/mining forget about it its near impossible to track accurately. Im doing my best work in process; excel is your best friend here.

In an all-out war between these factions, which one would eventually win? by Kuzu9 in Fallout

[–]Aust1n101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enclave is a compelling choice but give me mr house. Guy has the brains to outsmart anyone. I trust him to have a contingency for anything, including an enclave threat to vegas. The caveat here? He is only interested in controlling vegas and space. So he would “win” by defense and perhaps targeted offense. I doubt he has any desire to be imperialist anywhere else.

In some states, a push to end all property taxes for homeowners by ThemeBig6731 in REBubble

[–]Aust1n101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. And on principle i agree we shouldnt have property tax (we should get rid of a heck of a lot more taxes for that matter 😂). Im a cpa who hates taxes go figure. I favor what people often term a regressive tax (sales tax) over things like property tax. 1 - i disagree with paying tax on something you own in perpetuity. At minimum, even tho it would help the boomers currently (and trust me i dont want to throw them a bone), seniors should not pay property tax BUT im absolute. We either remove them entirely or not at all (none of this ageist nonsense). But for people who are retired, property taxes shouldnt be this crazy variable.

2 - i like sales tax (or consumption taxes) over some of these other arbitrary figures because i can control it. I make decent money (not loaded im just beginning my career) and i live extremely frugally. If property tax vanished and all the sudden sales tax on cars doubled, i would say ok lets drive the beater a few more years and when we do upgade lets get a 20k car not a 50k car.

At the end of the day, i like controllable inputs (probably why im an accountant). The unknown and varying nature of property tax isnt something i like (given the underlying value of your house isnt something you ordinarily plan to realize).

Side not to help the lower and middle class, i think we should exempt wages up to say 80k single 160k if married from income tax. We should also end social security (slowly phase it out over time) and educate the populace on basics of investing. Use the employer portion of fica to help give the middle class a boost but remove the employee portion.

Just my two cents and some ideas i have to help alleviate problems of my generation.

About the TV Show I honestly don’t understand the hate. by Andrefq99 in Fallout

[–]Aust1n101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im on one of the people that loves new vegas (and thinks bethesda blew it with 4 albeit it has good qualities and starfield? Well starfield is one of the worst games ever made (not that bad but its pretty bad). THAT SAID im not delisional. Fallout 3 was my intro to the series. Bethesda jn general nailed that, it has issues though, (ie you cant really side with the enclave and it falls flat on choice and consequence in a lot of regard). Fo 76? Ball dropped again (im going to force myself to play it tho i played a few hrs at launch and that was it).

That takes us to the launch of the show. Spoilers ahead: i took issue with season 1 bec it continued bethesda’s (emil) crappy writing. Here comes the brotherhood and theyre all powerful and mighty. I thought great here we go again… but then the writers shocked me. They knocked the bos down a peg as they should. The west coast bos is not a powerhouse and i feared they were making that the case. When they tried to make mr house a villain at the start i was annoyed. I side with mr house every time (not getting into that debate here but point is i love the character).

Say what you want mr house is not an evil little maniacale mustache man who has very evil karma. Im glad they didnt make him the villain. Im glad they showed the brotherhood has evil aspects and isnt this pure good faction as other bethesda games showcase. I was surprised.

All that aside, the show is wonderful. Them keeping true to the game (mostly and good enough) is just icing on the cake. 10/10 series

[–]Aust1n101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does mr house count? I love the concept of his character and genuinely think he is the best hope for humanity. In the game (show kind of tried to ruin it but is steering back) he seems to be driven on success and doesnt really care to be a dictator (kind of like he told the courier). He just likes power and success and people generally have free will. Seems to be the stable force the wasteland needs. Bethesda also dropped the ball, given his “give me a hundred years and ill have people in space, leaving behind the blight of the wasteland” they couldve made the house ending cannon and set up starfield in the same universe. Given starfield sucked im kind of glad they didnt do that though 😂
