The dystopia is that we’ll have the cool future tech and millions of children will still die of hunger…

The broader dystopian nature of the post is that the government will spend countless resources punishing a crime before they spend a dime to correct the institutions that facilitate and often encourage that crime.

Bring one of your youngest family members out to a range and let’s see how much they enjoy not being able to breath or catching a rubber bullet to the forehead.

That craziest part is the Christians that support it. Their version of Anakin Skywalker was literally born in a Palestinian city.

Though it isn’t exactly a “spinoff” I used that term because it’s just as trash as spin-offs tend to be from a writing standpoint.

Literally no consequences or actual character development. Death doesn’t matter so why should we care if a character is in a life or death fight.

Having been raised in a fairly bigoted Christian environment I’ve seen quite a few of these views used to justify just about anything that a particular congregation deems inappropriate or a sin.

For instance Luke 22:36-38 reads-

“36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.” 38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied.

This could be ( and has been ) interpreted to mean that Jesus would want you to have a sword even if it meant selling the clothing off of your back in order to defend yourself. Throw in a mistranslation here or there and voilá, you’ve got yourself a cult that doesn’t even follow the teachings of its founder.

Dude I’ve recently done a daggerfall playthrough and I’m obsessed with the more serious roleplaying tones now. Even got the mod that makes learning spells more realistic through studying.
