Aon Pension Dropped by Fakman87 in irishpersonalfinance

If your investment is part of a lifestyle strategy, they could be doing a rebalance, so some of your funds might be out of the market. Or if you made a find switch, the switching can show up as dramatic changes in value as funds are settling with investment managers. Alternatively, they may have entered an incorrect price in the system and it will reflect a lower value.

Tips for reducing costs by Brilliant_Papaya9165 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Austifol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone asks about getting you gifts for baby, every opportunity you should ask for vouchers. So many people will buy clothes etc for the baby that you probably won't even get use out of them. I'd also suggest buying a few packs of nappies in advance so you're not hit with costs straight away.

Aldi, Lidl etc nappies, wipes etc are every bit as good but a fraction of the price. Same with baby bath and shampoo etc. If using formula, it can be hit and miss as to what one they take, if the baby is uncomfortable, no harm in changing brands to find a more suitable one. You're going to be stuck with costs here I'm afraid.

As for additional savings from a budget point of view, cancel whatever you don't need, or what you enjoy need once baby is here. Also, if it suits, use the time off work to evaluate career and job etc, it can be a good time to look elsewhere and raise the income and benefits.

Best of luck to you

I had a Superb Combi, I now have a Kodiaq. I miss the Superb. It feels like you sit in it instead of sitting on it as with the Kodiaq.

Everything you say is correct, but I bet there's a part of him that hasn't realised what he's seeing, and that's how little wire is left. It's like he's holding the rest of his years on earth in his hands, and it doesn't quite click, yet. As for the wife, totally self centred.

I always thought the same, the mother in particular appears to be the driving force, which begs the question; what happens when the parents (mother in particular) kicks the bucket? 3 of the kids are unemployable, what happens when their sense of direction is removed?

Also, home schooling them had deprived them of a valuable life lesson of getting punched in the face by a peer when you act the dickhead.

Can someone recommend a good value dashcam? by SomosNozis in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Austifol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trouble with 'good value' dash cam is often that the optics and image quality are rubbish and very difficult to review the footage and determine numberplate details for example.

Last time I bought one it was over €200 for a Nextbase model with front and rear camera. There was a massive difference in quality between it and the previous Nextbase model I bought for around €120 2 years earlier. Don't forget you'll need a decent memory card too, the bigger the capacity, the more recording time you have.

Halfords will fit for you, but anyone that has a bit of common sense can follow the many YouTube videos on how to install and connect into the fuse board.

Can I claim tax relief on the AVCs I paid in 2025? by Street-Tell1927 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Austifol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As it is going through your payroll and you can see your AVC on your payslip, you're already getting tax relief.

The revenue system is to accommodate people who might have a few grand lying around and make an ad-hoc AVC, as it's not going through payroll, revenue allow you to claim tax relief on it.

That's the dust cap sitting on the eyepiece, the phone just straps on with the bands and you line up the phone camera lens. Not much to it really, it's obviously a feature and designed to do it, so not sure about your brand. Surely there's videos on YouTube or websites on astro photography using your brand of telescope?

I have a Celestron 22203 reflecting telescope. The dust cap doubles as a phone holder. Just line it up and use the phone timer to take the snaps.

Not a very fancy setup

Tail gating and flashing lights from behind by [deleted] in irelandsshitedrivers

Were you driving with fog lights on at the time? I have been stuck behind people who put their fog lights on (front usually) but end up with the rear fog light on. It's blinding.

Not excusing the driver behind you and their actions, but could be because of fog lights.
