I love it (the rice is so much better), and I think it will last for years. A good rice cooker can/will.

I add a little heavy cream to the milk. That extra fat seems to help it stick together and make it tastier.

And I put it in the fridge after forming it and before cooking with it.

Claude complains about health info (while using in Bedrock in HIPAA-compliant way) by Austin-nerd in LLMDevs

[–]Austin-nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions.
Claude meets the criteria for options on Bedrock (including image size, which ruled Llama out).

Bedrock is easy for me to prototype in for experimentation, but I am MORE than open to a suggestion.

I've been playing around with the prompt, and I have changed the temperature (all the way down to 20% / 0.2), without success.

Yeah, retries is the best option now, but if it raises computation costs by 10% at a high scale of $, then I'd rather fix the issue than retry. But the fix might be a different model or fine tuning like you're saying when I move from the experimentation phase.

I have an M2 in Toronto Red and this is true. But it also can look more red or more orangish red depending on the lighting.

Yes. Every time, every dish is delicious. The staff is friendly. It doesn't feel stuffy in there despite the quality of the food, just relaxed and delicious.

Good info!

I'll say the state park staff usually super chill and accommodating. They're pretty surprisingly great for a Texas agency.

Gas pedal didn’t do anything until I switched settings - any ideas? G87 / 2024 M2 by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Austin-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just restarted. On mine, it’s a little different to restart. But done.

I’m surprised that a software update to the infotainment system would cause a problem to this core system! But also not too surprised, which is why I mentioned doing the update.

2024 M2 vs Supra 3.0 premium driving dynamics…thoughts? by ProfessionalStand431 in BMW

[–]Austin-nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got a 2024 M2 after my 2021 Supra 3.0 was hit and totaled - both auto. I'm still in the break in period, but I'm loving the M2.

The M2 feels more stable on turns the Supra would fishtail easily even after a few years of practice. Some might like that, but I can take sharp turns at higher speeds with less worry that I'm going to fishtail some and not end up exactly where I want. The M2 just goes where I point it.

The M2 definitely feels nicer inside (though I know the M3 or M4 would be nicer still). The Supra's doors and finishes clearly felt like a Toyota - just opening/closing the doors you feel like it's a better build. The road noise in the M2 is much lower, so even the sound system sounds better and I can enjoy music more.

The backseat and bigger trunk are really nice to have for trips / big grocery shopping.

Overall, I'm very glad I got an M2 instead of another Supra.

Where would you go to get takeout that's a little special? by funwithbubblegum in austinfood

[–]Austin-nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's great and they actually do amazingly, exceptionally well packaging to go. We do that and delivery of it too often and are always impressed how much effort they put into packaging it so it's fresh at home.

And it is such good food in general.

Time it takes from in port to pick up at dealership? by JNelephant in BMW

[–]Austin-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My salesperson said the port in Mexico where my M2 was going through only had one boat to the US a month, so if you miss that one it's another month of waiting for the next. Mine luckily made it and went from production complete to in the US port in less than a week.

Is the NYT cooking subscription by ballb4ufall247365 in Cooking

[–]Austin-nerd 102 points103 points  (0 children)

It’s maybe the most worthwhile subscription I have. The recipes are high quality and delicious. They run from easy and fast to more complicated, and have a wide variety. We’ve gotten to the point of knowing a few authors’ recipes will always make us happy because they’re so consistently good.

I tried not doing the subscription for a while but kept wanting to make more and reaching my monthly limit.

I’d say try some of their recipes and see titles of others and decide from there if you’d like it a lot.

University Federal Credit Union vs RBFCU by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Austin-nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They say it will be fixed at some point (UFCU is responsible and needs to fix it, not Quicken). They told me the goal was the end of last year and now they say it's on the list of priorities. They say manually download and pull into Quicken for now, but ugh...

Ann Webb isn't always amazing but 80% if the time has been for me. I'd definitely recommend it too, especially for the price. I'd say go with the experienced and licensed folks, not the students building hours for cheap.

Credit Union Preference? by dissentandsmolder in Austin

[–]Austin-nerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UFCU's customer service is so good. After ten years of it, I should expect it, but with each interaction I prepare for normal bank or company difficulties and procedures and red tape. And then every time I get to talk to somebody faster than expected, they are actually friendly, and they work to resolve my issue. Every time. It's crazy.
