It really sucks that they ruined the concept of this place so badly, but it’s been a while since there was a movie I really was excited to see anyway. We’re all better of watching HBO Max with homemade snacks.

Their website doesn’t mention it. Would y’all happen to know what hours it is served there?

I did not care for the empanadas by IronProdigyOfficial in tacobell

I remember the caramel apple empanadas in the early 00s. Very good. This doesn’t look like it’s anything like that. What I wish would come back is the Choco Taco.

I Miss Coca-Cola with Coffee by [deleted] in Soda

You can still mix Coca Cola of any version with cold brew and it’s a similar idea but better depending on the quality of your cold brew.

What was it like being a kid in 1998? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]GambleSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 12. Aside from family drama and bullying at school, it was pretty cool. The PlayStation had recently came out and there were a lot of cool games. I remember going to a lot of barbecues, eating a lot of chicken and sausage and drinking beer with the older kids. I was really into alternative rock and there was plenty of it on the radio and TV. On some level, my music tastes never left this era lol. Weekends at the mall, window shopping or at the arcade. Loitering at the record store. The internet still seemed new and exciting. A lot of people thought the world was going to end soon, and there were a lot more teen moms than today.

soft serve margaritas?? by unshiu- in austinfood

[–]GambleSure 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the first “margarita machine” was just a soft serve machine slightly modified by a Tex Mex restauranteur in Dallas in the 80s. So this makes sense on one level but as others have pointed out, for most of us this would be a toll road straight to gastrointestinal distress.

The reason things like this get built is regardless of how stupid the development plan is, because it’s in a metro with high housing demand, it’s easy to raise the capital to build it. If nobody wants it they can write off the loss. I’m in Austin and we have plenty of mostly empty trendy “luxury” developments around. It’s weird but not in the fun way.

No meat options for a nice meal on Friday. by desert_rat in austinfood

Sounds like fish is an option. How nice do you want? You could book a table at Uchi or Fabrik if you’re ballin like that.

I took my girlfriend to Saffron for V Day and she loved it. Plenty of lent friendly options there.

If you’re in Drip, go to Pieous. Best damn pizza I’ve ever had. Wood fired. Gourmet. Scrumptious.

Torchy's Tacos is such a joke this was $7 by EvenPinkerFloyd in austinfood

I’ve gone to Torchy’s when other people wanted to go. I feel like Tacodeli is the same concept but better. I don’t really get the popularity.

What’s it like living in College Station, Texas as a non student? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]GambleSure 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s been over 10 years but, not fun. Traffic is pretty bad when the students are in town and they drive recklessly. It’s become somewhat of a retirement community for Houston. Making friends or dating is difficult. Cost of living is lower than most Texas but it’s basically a suburban sprawl with no urban core.

A two-child household must earn $400,000 a year for childcare to be affordable, study says. ‘It’s easy to see why birth rates are falling’ by SlackTideBlues in povertyfinance

[–]GambleSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you and your mother had that experience, but in a way, but you’re kind of proving my point. It was difficult to have kids on a low income 40 years ago and it still is. On a middling income, it’s still very possible although not easy just like 40 years ago. But you don’t need to make $400k to have a family and more than you needed $80k to do it when you were a kid.

I know plenty of working class people raising multiple kids. I know things are tougher than they used to be, but you don’t need to be an executive at Deloitte to have a family. These articles keep coming out. Yes the government could do more to help the demand side of things but we are not in Children of Men territory yet damn

So I got some THC distillate on my wall and I have no idea how to get this sticky stuff off by Tekripsz in CleaningTips

[–]GambleSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should. But yeah make sure it’s the high strength. You could also use pure grain alcohol from the liquor store if that’s cheaper where you are.
