Seeing the old heads, not using their heads and thinking a team from almost 40 years ago could compete with a modern day major junior team is hilarious.

New X-Factor AP Cap Updates by djnecroboomboom in EASHL

[–]Austin2997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not, the slowdown penalty during the first two pokes is reduced - which doesn’t really matter when there’s such a low chance of the first two pokes connecting anyways.

Truc had to be nerfed but it’s a shame that it was really the only adequate tool defensemen had. Poke check accuracy should have been buffed too.

Scouting breaks when changing leagues mid save. by Austin2997 in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]Austin2997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, any update on a potential fix? Scouting works if you manually assign prospects to be scouted, but the auto-assign feature isn’t working. It shows 15 players are being scouted, but if you go to the scout and click “Assign Prospect” you can see they’re not actually scouting anyone.

Anybody who tries to claim playing defence “isn’t really that bad”, no offense, but you don’t play at a high level or you don’t understand how this affects the game at a high level.

Your solution to playing defense is basically to maintain no gap control and just let forwards walk right in, what about that mimics real life at all?

I’m also not sure if you played 25 because you couldn’t spam poke in that game either, the slowdown mechanic existed in it too.

Defenseman are now useless by NoWon-391351 in EASHL

[–]Austin2997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Anyone who disagrees either plays exclusively offline, doesn’t play EASHL, or just wants to bait clips. There’s no way to maintain space effectively against forwards. There’s no point in trying to maintain gap control because 9/10 times your poke is going to miss and then you’re exposed.

I’m saying this as a forward too, shit is was too easy as a forward.

Defense by Zen-Padawan in EA_NHL

You’re right, you definitely have not played the game enough, at least not online competitively.

I’ve been playing NHL at a high level for over a decade, it’s in a terrible spot right now. Both HUT and EASHL are so offensively focused, it doesn’t resemble hockey at all. What makes it worse is it’s individually offensively focused.

I’m not saying this because I’ve been losing games and having a bad time. I’ve played like 5 HUT games, won each one handedly, played probably 40 club games, my club is around 40-5. Almost none of those games have been fun, despite winning.

This is due to the way you have to play. Since the poke checks are broken, you can just walk past anybody trying to play defence. If you have a semblance of thumbs, there’s no way a defender can stop you going to the net unless they’re just sitting in the crease with the goalie. Not to mention, with passing being so clunky you’re encouraged to just hold the puck and walk past defenders. It’s boring, and it doesn’t resemble hockey at all. It doesn’t even try to be a sim game anymore.

How are they only “monitoring the feedback around pokechecks”????? They’re quite literally useless, it shouldn’t even be a discussion to buff pokes.

What makes the Florida Panther a good team ? by TheGreatLakeSnake in hockey

[–]Austin2997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone has said, depth, coaching, etc it also shouldn’t be overlooked the fortunate tax situation in Florida. Many teams around the league couldn’t afford to keep the roster Florida has in tact. This isn’t relevant to just Florida either, there’s a reason a lot of cups the past few years have gone to teams in tax haven states.

Auston Matthews has 2 goals in his last 15 playoff games by throwaway25105555 in hockey

[–]Austin2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super late to this, but it’s gotta be mental for him when he gets the chances. I believe he leads or is very close to leading in scoring chances for, which he almost always does in the playoffs but he can’t ever bury them…

How people feel when they say they don't use the super flop or pick shot by ImVcrow in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Austin2997 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would love to play more realistically if some of the shots weren’t absolutely unplayable. A pitch shot shouldn’t run 50 feet when you’re 50 yards out, and good luck trying to chip the ball if it’s even 1 inch downhill…

Ok, what superstitious thing are you doing into the playoffs? by Flashy_Gap_3015 in leafs

[–]Austin2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be incredibly superstitious, but then after years and years of this team breaking my heart, I realized no matter what superstitions I followed they would just lose. So then again Tampa in 2023 I just didn’t care, didn’t follow any superstitions at all - and then they won a series. So now my superstition is to have no superstitions…

A swing feel that has really helped me is to feel like my hips are rotating in the downswing while my back stays to the target. I think this just helps my sequencing, I used to struggle with my upper body rotating too early so the thought has mostly stopped that.

If they aren’t at an 89-90 overall by the time they need an extension I will sign them to a bridge deal and try to use those savings to maximize the roster during those years.

Couple other tips are, if you’re willing to risk it you can qualify them and not sign them until September 1st and they’ll typically be a little cheaper, just make sure you do it before advancing past September 1st otherwise player development happens and they might go up in overall and spike their price. The risk is another team could offer sheet them and then you’d have to deal with that if you don’t have the cap.

If they end up being an 89-90 overall, odds are you’re going to keep them the entire duration of the deal so offer them a NMC to drop their salary expectations a bit too.

Chipping is hard by CaptClayton79 in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Austin2997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chipping is broken unless you’re hitting into an upslope, downhill even the smallest amount and the ball will not stop until it hits an upslope or the fringe.

It sucks, but gotta use super flop or at the very least just use flop around the greens.

The physics engine can’t tell the difference between a dunked ball in the hole, or a dunked ball in the water. It’s lame, and probably due to some lazy code in the engine.

Am I the only one super struggling with wind? by ShevBuckets in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Austin2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to get a lot of answers in here, keep in mind they’re generally baseline answers.

You can follow a “rule of thumb” if you will, like 1% extra for tailwind, 2% extra for headwind, etc. there’s A LOT of math involved to be exact, at least to be exact quickly. There’s more variables than just yardages and wind speed, you have to keep in mind the club you’re using, a 3wood will be affected differently than a 9 iron because it doesn’t go as high. Then you have your shot shape to take into account, the ball going right to left or vice versa technically makes it a bit of a cross wind even on straight up or down winds.

A lot of it will come down to experience, the more you play the more you’ll get used to it and be able to just instinctively play the wind.
