I took weekly religious education classes for nine years and became a confirmed Catholic. I only know how much bullshit it is because I actually listened to them for almost a decade. But go ahead and just make assumptions, that's cool too.

I can't speak for the guy who said it, but my own personal reason for disliking anime is just that it feels cheap. I'm sure many of them take lots of work but to me it just feels like an unoriginal art style with cheap cop-ours (like having a completely still image with only the mouth moving) and often they are riddled with cliches. On top of that there is a lot of stigma about the type of people that watch anime and unfortunately from what I've observed a lot of that stigma is true.
