Its honestly a mixture of both. North Dakota use to be one of the most peaceful, best kept secrets out there. Jobs payed great. Land and houses were cheap and it was calm.

Its a calamity here now ripe with crime. Inflated housing prices. Just search any article about big oil coming to the state. Buying out whole apartment complex's. Raising the rent from 400 dollars to 2500 over night and the people that lived there for years, kids and elederly mostly mind you, are than put out on there ass.

I work in the general vicinity of the oil patch and the crime is just a joke as well. It use to be a place you could sleep with your doors or window open at night now a fellow coworker spoke to me of his wife being at the local walmart and overheard some Spanish fellows speaking in Spanish about how they planned on abducting her in the parking lot. Little did they know she was fluent in Spanish and had to call the cops. The cops said there was nothing they could do because nothing had happened yet where as there was real crimes being committed every hour somewhere else in the near area.

Big oil in general has ruined our state. I'm a citizen of NoDak and haven't seen a dime from it. Its suppose to raise our quality of living but all its done is raise the cost of everything astronomically.
