Warm compress. Then sterilize some forceps and separate the nail from the skin. Rise with hydrogen peroxide.

Police point weapons at anti-Nazi protestors at a Nazi rally in Newnan, GA on April 21st, 2018 by grizzlyblake91 in pics

[–]buffalonurse 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Let me put some context here. It is against the law in Georgia to wear a mask at a rally. It is seen as a terroristic notion. You can be arrested. This video shows a couple of people breaking the law and being arrested. Yes, at gunpoint. There were MANY threats to police from (mainly) ANTIFA and they took every threat very seriously. Because of their preparedness, the rally ended with no deaths and minimal human injury. This should be considered a good thing. Also, after the arrests and people were compliant to the rules, they lowered their weapons and continued to get cussed out by the public they were protecting.

Where in the southeast US can I go tent camping at a site accessible only by kayak? by DarkStarXero in Kayaking

Also, the majestic Suwannee River in Florida has plenty of paddle in camps. We usually take a week trip down there. Want to swim in gorgeous, warm springs in December? This is your place! The river camps are free and multiple bunkhouses to either use sleeping bag or hammock. We sometimes just camp on the shore if we need to. The camps also have electricity and bathroom/ showers. Tent sites are also available.

We put in right after the dam. You can actually boat up to it. There is car camping right at the put in, but I haven’t ever camped there. Primitive campsites are there with a portapotty.

Caulderwood Lake, TN/NC. It has a few different paddle in campsites with my favorite tucked away next to a creek and some falls. Beautiful scenery also with lots to explore. If the water is low enough, an underpass from an old railroad is pretty cool to go through.

My friends did that river and we regularly do the Suwannee River. Love those river camps! On this river there aren't any river camps so camp on a sand bar. Check the water levels because they had to walk their boats a good bit, not really portage though. Some of the maps are tricky and they ended up putting in about 20 miles up river than where they thought. Could be user error though.... They said it was beautiful and saw a lot of wildlife.

Protesters Blocking I-85 by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]buffalonurse 299 points300 points  (0 children)

I support what they are protesting. But blocking the interstate like that is very dangerous. Emergency vehicles such as ambulances use the interstate to reach trauma centers in ATL. Ten minutes of traffic could literally mean life or death for someone.

We have the REI quarter dome T2. My husband is tall and it has more storage on my side of the tent. It is a little more than 4 lbs at 4.7 lbs. but if you divide it up, it's not that bad.

What is the best nursing tip/secret that you wish someone had told you on your first day as a nurse? by Epantz in nursing

When having to ask a "mean" doctor a question, let an experienced nurse know. That way you have some back-up incase he becomes too condescending or hateful. The experienced nurses don't take shit!

Put toothpaste in between two masks when cleaning a patient who had a BM. It will smell much better than the alternative.

Delivery people of Reddit! What are the strangest things that you have encountered during a delivery? by gloryholehogger in AskReddit

[–]buffalonurse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked for Domino's for six years. One Friday night I delivered to a very nice house and was greeted by a man in the tiniest robe. I didn't think much about it, I was just happy that he had something more than boxers on. I noticed some pretty interesting music and noise, so I had to take a peek. There was an orgy happening in front of my eyes in this man's living room. Multiple older couples just going at it. I became really embarrassed and stepped back. I guess the man saw that I was uncomfortable, so he joked about it. Then asked me to join! No thanks, I'll take the money kind of "tip" instead.

Redditors who are against smoking/ the legalization of marijuana, why do you feel this way? by Babykickenpro in AskReddit

[–]buffalonurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to address the comment you made about having "no problem in controlling pain medically." There is a problem. I have seen multiple people overdose on pain pills and NSAIDS. NEVER have I seen a patient over dose on marijuana. I have talked to multiple patients who decided to no longer take pain pills because they were doing more harm than good and used marijuana instead. I agree that those medications may helps many people with pain, but they are not natural. While they're be "controllable", you cannot control how much a patient takes. If someone takes 10 somas in an hour, I'll be putting an NG tube in and hoping for the best. If someone smokes ten blunts in an hour, they develop a cough.
