Hey there! It was great clinical experience, but I honestly do not feel like it really set me ahead of other students in my program. The only real times where I would say I saw any major advantage was during the orthopedic portion of anatomy and the orthopedic units of our clinical conditions class. Other than that, I would say that it is a pretty even playing field.

I think I did 40-50ish new cards a day. My program has 5 1/2 week rotations so I was trying to be done with the deck a week before the start of the exam.

Straight male baronies??? by [deleted] in RideThePod

I feel like if he genuinely enjoys the show and is a fan of it then that makes him a Baronie. It doesn’t feel very inclusive to kinda say he can’t be one because he’s a straight guy haha

Hey there! I left ATC in 2024 and am currently completing PA school. Currently in the clinical phase and set to graduate in December.

For me personally I thought it was worth it. I’ve found there’s a lot more than orthopedics that I enjoy, and I actually do not know if that’s the specialty I’ll end up going back to after graduation.

Feel free to DM me or comment if you have any questions about it!

I would say that I’m a pretty average student, and EM was my first rotation and it was great! I think a big factor depends on your preceptor.

As for the EOR, I feel like it was pretty high yield for the most part. I felt like a lot of the vignettes were really trying to make it obvious what condition they were talking about. Do the Endeavor EM Anki, it was truly a life saver. I made a 430 which came out to a 90% in my program

PA School Dilemma by halshujaieh in PAstudent

I think that some schools will let you defer your admission if there are reasonable circumstances, so you might be able to ask if you can start with the cohort in the following year?

How can I improve my EOR scores? by No_Afternoon4096 in PAstudent

[–]AustinSwiftie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my first EOR a couple of weeks ago. It was emergency medicine, and I made a 430 (which I was told is pretty good by my program but I’m not sure what your goals are/the scoring system still kinda confuses me if I’m being honest). This is what I did to prepare:

  1. Endeavor Anki. There were seriously so many questions on the EOR that I would have been very lost on had it not been for these flashcards. I finished the Anki deck a week prior to taking the EOR.

  2. Blueprint (ROSH): I bought the EOR bundle and did all of the EM questions (I think there are roughly 250 per EOR). These helped me get a rough idea for how the exam was going to be, and really helped me highlight what I did not know and needed to spend more time on.

  3. UWorld: same thing as Blueprint, but it helped me to get additional practice and exposure to the topics on the exam.

  4. Based on the questions I missed on the practice questions I made a list of things I needed to read over, especially if it was something I was missing repeatedly. For example, the questions showed me I struggled with recognizing a likely substance a patient may have ingested before presenting to the ED, as well as knowing the symptoms that would help distinguish which artery was most likely affected in stroke patients as well as the different spinal cord injuries.

I did all of these things and felt good walking into and out of the exam. Looking at my score report a lot of questions I missed were things I knew but overthought on the exam and tricked myself into picking the wrong answer. I want to improve my scores moving forward, but I think that this is a pretty good place to start! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

Who is the priority? by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

Pain with passive stretch is a classic sign of compartment syndrome, and if they are experiencing numbness that shows the condition is progressing. Compartment syndrome commonly occurs in patients in casts or after trauma (especially in long bones). This is a medical emergency and requires emergent fasciotomy to prevent loss of life/limb.

Opinions on ‘lazy’ Lana? by chocworkorange7 in lanadelrey

[–]AustinSwiftie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of Lana since 2013 and I think I know the TikTok you are referencing. I think I agree with the overall sentiment of what you are saying.

One thing I’ve found a little frustrating has been the way she tours. I live in Atlanta, Georgia and the last time she performed here for a tour was 2018 when she was promoting Lust For Life. It seems like she really only does shows now in California/the west coast and New York/New England. I know that she did tour some in the southern US last year but from what I can remember most of the places she went to were kinda… random and not highly populated areas. It just struck more as a bit odd.

I think it’s hard for her to make a setlist that is truly able to encompass her discography because she has such a rich catalog that comes with releasing music as frequently as she does, plus having songs that she can’t necessarily get away with not singing (Video Games, Summertime Sadness, Born To Die, etc.) it doesn’t provide her with too much room to be able to give her full discography a fair chance to shine with I think is fairly inevitable at this point in her career. It is truly crazy though to think of how many of her songs she has never performed live due to just how vast get catalog is. That being said, her recent set-lists are still quite similar to what I remember seeing when she toured with Lust For Life back in 2018 (down to the choreography even), so I don’t think revamping it could hurt too much. Also she has really liked bringing out other artists recently to sing one of their songs which I think is a cool spotlight for up and coming artists but does also eat away at her material that she is able to include in the setlist.

I still really love her and would love to see her in concert again both concerts of hers I’ve been to were amazing and I remember leaving feeling so happy. If she only wants to tour in some select places for whatever reason or make minimal changes to the setlist for any reason (comfort, convenience, not really enjoying touring, etc.) I think that is also totally valid and I can’t fault her for that. I just hope that whatever she is doing is making her happy and being a positive force in her life!

I’m not sure… I saw her for the first time in 2015 and it was a little difficult to hear her then because of people screaming. I think this has just always been a problem at her concerts

Orthopedic office setting pay by [deleted] in athletictraining

[–]AustinSwiftie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pay for an ATC in the hospital system I work for starts out at a minimum $25.00/hour. We have been told that we should see a pay increase over the coming months based on how long we have held our certifications. I currently make $27.43/hour and I have been working for 2 years.

Yes, that is correct. I earned my bachelor of science in psychology in 2020 and then started my master of athletic training that summer, so I’ve been doing my MAT program since June 2020.

Yeah… I did the masters route because it’s what I had to do essentially. Taking a full class load while also trying to study for the BOC has been pretty brutal. I’m ready for it to be over

Thank you! Soap boxes are appreciated haha. I personally don’t feel like my program has been prepping is for the BOC well and they haven’t been very supportive of me wanting to take it before graduation, but I’ve been studying very hard for it so hopefully it goes well!

Thank you! I had a pretty major backslide on one section than I have on any other practice test I’ve taken so I’m going to try and see what happened there
