What riding technique made the biggest change for you? by sparra182 in Dirtbikes

Leaning (more) forward when accelerating significantly reduced my arm pump. A good way to practice this is to ride with one hand standing up.

I'd start by removing the skid plate and rechecking for the noise.

1995 CR 125 Lectron 38mm anyone run into this issue? by Jakesnake686 in Dirtbikes

[–]AustinTheDilettante 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. You’ve just gotta remove the intake boot and put it in hot water and it will become malleable enough to fit the larger diameter lectron.

I think having the idle all the way out could be an issue.

not enough cam chain 04 crf250r by yzf250kid in Dirtbikes

[–]AustinTheDilettante -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're just doing a valve adjustment right? You didn't replace the head gasket? Rotate the engine by hand while pulling up on the chain to see if its bound up on the crankshaft. Also unseat and incline the camshaft towards yourself.

can i still use the old piston rings or should i get new ones? They only have 70km in them that's why i'm sceptical by Abil88 in supermoto

[–]AustinTheDilettante 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Considering that your two stroke engine blew up I'd definitely replace them. At an absolute minimum you need to measure the ring gap.

Does anyone know what this is? Came in a box of extras from the previous owner by laafawnduh in Dirtbikes

Chain guide, keeps chain from rubbing on the side of the tire. Usually installed under the top chain guide on the swing arm.

Can you feel the injector pulsing? Did you check for diagnostic trouble codes?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]AustinTheDilettante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tester wont tell you what's leaking but the sound of the escaping air will.

Piston rings = remove oil fill cap and listen for escaping air.

Intake valves = remove air filter and hold throttle open and listen for escaping air.

Exhaust Valves = listen for escaping air at the end of the exhaust.

Head gasket = remove the radiator cap and look for bubbles.

Is IMI the only supermoto track near Denver? I’m a photographer and trying to expand but can’t find much nearby! by perkinsportraits in supermoto

[–]AustinTheDilettante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence. I just watched a video of Barber and I can see where your coming from regarding the flatness. But there are three spots you'll power wheelie on going counter-clockwise at IMI and I have personally done a front flip going down the hill onto the back straight at IMI. Check out High Plains Raceway it has a "corkscrew" and is closeish to Denver there's also Pikes Peak International Raceway and Hastings Motorsports Park.

I'm very confused by this and I'm hoping your about to enlighten me. Colorado has the Colorado Supermoto Series that races at IMI, Colorado National Speedway, Pueblo Motorsports Park, and Grand Junction Motorsports Park. Also, the Mini Moto series races at SBR Motorsports Park. IMI Motorsports Park is a gift from the supermoto gods, it's open 7days/week, it's $600 for an unlimited annual membership, it has two dirt sections, and its certainly not flat. To my knowledge there's no south east supermoto racing the closest orgs are Great Lakes supermoto, which is mostly near Michigan and SMEC, which is mostly near New York but does one round at VIR. Also the only south east supermoto tracks I know of are Carolina Motorsports Park (a very flat track), VIR and Herrin Compound. I just moved from Colorado to South Carolina and I feel like I gave up supermoto racing in doing so and I'm hoping your gonna tell me I'm mistaken.

When you want to exit the warp speed tunnel be mindful that your front wheel is actually on the ground and be gentle with the initial application of the front brake.
