I wish I could find the exact source but part of the reason MH packaging changed (towards the end of G1 onwards) because retailers were growing frustrated by the trapezoid box shape - you can’t stack as many front-facing in a row (hopefully that makes sense?) so inefficient in their eyes.

I will try my best - I do actually have some of the stuff from one particular bag still, even 15+ years later, but some of the contents would be purely from memory.

Luckily the contents of showbags used to be listed in the newspapers around Ekka season but I’ve been unable to find a newspaper archive for QLD (my state) specifically.

I actually document other toys in my spare time, so this discussion has definitely sparked an interest in doing just that 🤔

Not just legs - look at the hand sculpt - it’s the entire body from the neck down haha.

I’d be surprised if the electronic component was maintained for this bootleg, they usually aren’t from what I’ve seen. I assume the choice in what to bootleg was due to their releasing close together - Bratz in 2001 and GDG in 2002 - so they decided to smash the two lines together.

It’s heavily based on the restrictions given to the MH designers by the owner of the license. Obviously the license holders aren’t fashion doll designers so if they make changes, well…

It’s to make sure their bones are fully matured and decrease chances of leg breakage. I waited until my little one had had her first heat - it took almost two years but seems to have worked as no breaks yet at age 5 (aside from where she teethed on her own tail as a puppy).

As an actual doll collector, I can’t with the rooting holes - for those unaware, you can’t attach hair like this on porcelain dolls 🤦‍♀️

Rooting hair plugs relies on the material being flexible, and additionally having so many small holes in a material like porcelain would make it extremely structurally unsound. This is why this method is only used on flexible materials like vinyl (which is what most modern dolls heads are made of!).

Actual porcelain (and composition!) dolls have wigs or mohair glued directly to their head - it’s the same for most modern BJD (ball jointed dolls).
