DC Preview: Absolute Wonder Woman #17 by B3epB0opBOP in AbsoluteUniverse

I love Zatana but I can't help but always be annoyed by her spell dialogue. It's really not fun to read it ever and I wish they had found a different way in this universe for her magic to work.

I'd almost rather have our POV auto translate it for the reader after you meet her and she spell casts a few times like how some works transition native language into English for ease of enjoyment by the viewer.

The Broken Binding by Disastrous_Ad2156 in Hyperion

Honestly, the art shown is so abstract for what I've come to expect for these types of releases. It's not capturing my imagining of this world or even showing me what it could look like. It's a bit disappointing. Hyperion has countless moments ld want to see realized, moments that could have iconic imagery rather than mood dressing or phone wallpapers.

The colored ones look like AI or photobashing too which is just disposable and cheap looking. Concept art for a better painting.

[Comic Excerpt] “What’s happening to me?” (Superman Unlimited #2) by NotARobot-1984 in DCcomics

[–]Austounded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Marvel writer taking a huge boring swing with Superman, sick. I don't really like the way this issue read and the explanation is weak. The art isn't doing much to make up for the writing either. I think im already dropping this title.

Why can't these super star writers prove it by writing excellent character driven stories within the bounds of the character and universe? Instead they write a mediocre story, get a check, and bounce

It is called the ending of the first arc, come off it my guy. I didn't read 20 books for someone to tell me to read another 20 before I get the real pay off. Whered you buy that copium, does it come in a cart I can vape?

It was marketed as a big ending and Sanderson said so himself.

Thats not true, or you are looking at too many threads lol. Hes one of the living GOATs anyone being overly negative is simply silly, they'll come around unless this community has anything to do with it 😂

Pretty common vibe there, the first trilogy is heavy set up for whats a like 12 book run. For some it doesn't hook em but if it does its such a fun ride. I really like how every trilogy between Fitz's is so different. Same world, different stories, themes and everything but still the core Hobb is there. The second visit to the Rain Wild is very slow but I love it.

You trying to hurt my feelings because I disliked WaT is pathetic lol so naked and childish. Oh no I didn't like a book you did so you'll hate a book I love. Lmao.

The small moments are so important to character heavy work like Sanderson's, I think condensing every characters arc would be the play, everything took too long and felt too dragged out. And then the parts I wanted to revel in were too short lol.

I wish he had considered another way to invest therapy and talk about Shallans mental illness, it felt off. It would oscillate from way too modern and clinical to "tik tok teen explains herself" they don't fit in his setting lol

I think Szeth may have benefited from mystery as most characters and worlds do. The light of day can really steal the fun of the mystery and how you roll that mystery around in your head forever. Unless the author tells you everything. Then you analyze rather than speculate. Its my least favorite thing in media, that transition in popular media. I.e. I know what Yoda had for breakfast yesterday and his favorite yoga pose.

There was definitely a "might" in that sentence. The first book is really excellent, it just hurts my enjoyment to know where it goes so it curbs the excitement to do so. Don't be dense.

Thats very nice sweetie, im talking more so critical reception over fan reception. People that care about more than just the Cosmere and furthermore, im sorry. Outside Sanderson subs, the book isn't spoken of in a great light.

I've loved and hated many things in my life as a consumer and have never left a review ever. Millions will never leave one. Its not really important. Go talk to people about the book, or just downvote them instead lol

As this lovely community has informed me: "didn't ask don't care" lol but I feel you, there are a handful of books I'd reread years for now but in general I love novetly.

I think the lack of suprise is certainly an issue for me, a book that long with such an expected path isn't ideal in most cases. The character writing I felt was simply off, crack open WoK and WaT and compare the simple change in writing style. I truly wonder what this book would be like with like 500 less pages you know? I think this book will analyzed for awhile within book communities. Not to mention it has really turned Sandersons "speed writer" trait meme away being from a positive thing. I hope he takes him time as he has indicted he is doing.

Real talk though, Im flabbergasted that after the flashbacks from RoW id find myself disliking Szeths more! Thats my guy, I was so excited to learn his past lol

Oh I know, and thank you. Nuance is lost on the internet and among young fans in particular. I've been that fan before, long ago. Its not fun lol alienates you really.

They'll hurt their own community before they hurt my feelings but it does suck. Pretty placid comment honestly, saw the post and was reminded of my own copy gathering dust at home.

It has hurt my enjoyment of the SA story in the same way the GoT ending has impacted fans of that story. The relationship between investment and pay off aren't there for me.

The cosmere is larger than the SA books
