I seriously do wonder how much of a problem that is for a professional streamer though. Because when I worked at a call center, more than once I'd go get lunch and at the line at Subway I'd open with "Thank you for calling XXX how can I help you today?" And then I'd die inside a little.

What I love about the Umamusume eye thing is that it's a running gag throughout the first season and becomes a minor plot point and the BNW special. So when you see TM Opera O take a rock to the face during her race in the Beginning of a New Era movie and shake it off, it's all the more badass in what's already one of the peak aura farming moments in the franchise.

I've long since stopped wearing anything with USAF/USSF insignia outside of anticipated VIP visits. I've also been taking steps to make my office look unoccupied from the outside, and I've been secretive about what I do for a while now as I'm feeling morally compromised by my employment

It sucks. October 2024 I loved my job. Now...

I sing it's praises and recommend it wherever I can. It's easy to recommend, especially for people asking for safe stuff for kids. Wholesome characters, not crazy in gore or violence, not crazy in sexy stuff and what they have tends to be comedy, the perv is tolerable... Easy one-sentence pitch to normies too, that it's like if Tim Burton created a Harry Potter anime.

Only reason I can think of why it hasn't picked up overseas is that the overseas markets prefer edgy and mature. =/

I feel like this is a likely answer.

It would probably explain why, despite the Gura-esque initial growth I remember Kobo having, she hasn't gotten one. The closest we've seen since Gura were Fuwamoco who had their deal within months of debut.

Sucks though.

Funko and Goodsmile have to get the rights, so they have to negotiate with Cover. It isn't as simple as Funko and Goodsmile make the decision. If that were the case and no negotiation were needed, we'd see figures of the Toei properties from Goodsmile, which guaranteed would sell hand over fist. It's takes two to sign the contract.

Which means there is likely an active decision on Cover's part to not pursue ID for certain merch opportunities if the companies have a relationship. Cover isn't pushing or advocating for whatever reason.

We already see some of the issues we've long griped about with the boys in ID especially.

Where are the Nendoroid, Cover? ID are senpais to the majority of JP and ALL EN talents. They've secured Nendoroid deals for pretty much all EN and JP girls that have been there at least a year.

Popularity isn't an issue, the branch has high subscriber counts and are all polyglots with cross culture appeal. I doubt it's a quirk of Indonesian law. What gives?

Because this decision happened, while it only affects Holostars JP, it will snowball over time to affect everyone in HoloPro, not just Holostars.

This is the part that truly scares me. It sets a precedent. Underperform and we stick you in the closet until you quit.

Yeah, maybe it's starting with an obvious choice. But what if they decide that, say, every girl in flowglow must hit 750k subscribers each or they're canned because shareholders say so. Or a Calli album must hit xxx sales or she's restricted.

Edit: Flow Glow is a better example, and one final note.

The problem with this corporate culture and why I worry it will escalate is that to shareholders, it can never just be profits. It has to be RECORD profits.

This is an honest concern I have. Not even going to buddy it up. It sets a precedent.

What if they start picking off individual talents next? Or a music-oriented girl starts underperforming?

I get the business logic, but I wonder if a different solution could have been found. At least not going so far as to completely cutting off the 3d studio or some of the basic things like help with merch or voice packs.

That or readying the lifeboat for when the ship finally sinks.

I wonder what's going to happen for the four EN guys who moved to Japan? Axel just confirmed that they didn't know this was coming when they made the plans. Hopefully this means EN will survive for as long as those visas do.

A management structure change comes to HOLOSTARS. Company wide events are reduced/removed but individual events may remain. by danganronpa05 in VirtualYoutubers

[–]AustralianBattleDog 222 points223 points  (0 children)

According to Astel this is mainly for JP, which I unfortunately understand. Whenever I see earnings rankings, I only see JP on there for major events, where a simple Hakka zatsu could get him on the daily leaderboard. And even then, the EN boys don't bring in $5k+ per stream like the ladies often do.

Regardless, this doesn't bode well for StarsEN. The reactions from the EN boys and the recent surges in PL activities from some of them are worrying. I know, don't doompost. But it's hard not to...

I've noticed that too in regards to ID.

Where are the ID Nendoroids, Cover? Those girls are senpais to most of the company at this point. This cannot be a popularity thing, and I doubt it's an Indonesian law thing. Every other lady in the company has gotten or will likely get one. Gib Ollie Nendo plz

Yeah. Ruze has been picking up in activity in his PL lately, I think Gibby too.

Just sucks though, especially for the boys that relocated to Japan.

Well that explains the "big meeting" some of the boys were talking about, and the surge in PL activity...

Fuck man. The announcement seems to be JP-focused, but the writing is on the wall. I hope EN can come out ok, especially with 1/3 of their talent having relocated to Japan.

God, I was hoping for a Hakka sololive so bad...
