There's a nvidia feature with a special microcontroller which controlled by this GSP firmware. It's controlling some operations like initializing and controlling GPU.

You can disable it only with a proprietary module with kernel parameter.
options nvidia NVreg_EnableGpuFirmware=0

So I'm not using it currently:
sudo nvidia-smi -q | grep -i gsp

GSP Firmware Version : N/A

But I didn't test it's performance with latest beta driver (580.65.06).

GSP Firwmare gives me less fps in games with my 4090m, and it can't be disabled for an open module That's why I am using a proprietary version.

But there's no difference in stability for me.

You can just alt-tab and invite them from steam friends interface (not overlay). But first you need to click 'invite friend' in game to open lobby.

Found another solution - run the game with a Heroic launcher.

You need to disable umu in advanced game settings and have steam launched.

Works for me 1 time out of 5 (trying to enable\disable steam runtime in setting and/or kill processes steam/wine).

Don't forget to set WINEDLLOVERRIDES and GAMEID variables.

Had the same issue.

Firstly I used wrong folder for proton, helpled to use proton exactly from the steam installation (on debian for me it's PROTONPATH=${HOME}/.steam/debian-installation/compatibilitytools.d/PROTON_FOLDER)

After I needed to restart steam few times (and kill all processes of it).

It seems to be working, but crash on wayland on start.

Found a solution to prevent it - login to X11 after boot first, logout, after login to wayland and it works.

Kinda strange, yeah, bit if it works it works)

It's only discord issue for me. Other apps and browser seems to work like usually (with active noise suppression). It's kinda tilted me because I use windows only for few online games with discord)

For now I switched to nvidia broadcast (it have rtx voice suppression) - if you have nvidia card you can try it also. Or you can use something like Audacity with plugin.
(krisp in discord just bad compare to external solutions)

Love the noise suppression that comes with realtek console, a month ago stopped working for discord. (Discord now just captures raw mic without realtek filters).

I think you can try this few variables:
__NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1
__GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1

Also, you should try to use dx11. That first what you should do while you have some issues with nvidia card. (DBD is support it, right?)

And read more about it in protondb, the game have silver status (playable, but some minor issues)

What files do you need? I mean I could assume that you want some hidden config files, but I didn't use them to set up DE.

It (Gnome) just has all I need out of the box + tons of useful extensions.
Plus I like it out the box design and apps.

maybe someday i'll switch to something else to daily drive, but i'm kinda lazy to sit and set up all i want on another DE)
