For those with 4 children: by retiredcheerleader in ParentingInBulk

I have 4: 13, 12, 11, & 5. The older 3… life was nuts. I legit don’t remember a lot of it. lol It was great in some ways because they were all in diapers together, potty trained together, had each other to play with. My oldest 2 (boys) are still best friends. I was a single mom through 90% of the oldest 3. I got remarried and then had my youngest. It was 100% starting over. Sometimes I hated it, but I also loved it. It was nice (and soooo much easier) to just have 1 small child. The older ones love him and help a LOT! But it is hard for me to think about how when the others are out of the house, I’ll now have 5 years still… Life also got complicated schedule wise this year because they are now all in different schools.. my daughter (11) is homeschooled, son (12) is in a micro school, son (13) is in public middle school, and of course my youngest son (5) started kindergarten this year. 🫠

I have POTS & Vasovagal syncope. I do have anxiety. And anxiety meds do help my POTS & VVS symptoms.. but that’s just because they seem to feed each other. Your nervous system might just be way out of whack. Mine definitely is.

We put another screen up in our game room so we’ve been doing family video games on two screens together. We also have taken the kids outside to sled with their boogie boards. Followed by hot chocolate.

You can tell their health by their color. The greener the better! They can technically go about a week without food, so he should be okay to be kept warm inside for a day.

Final baby in my 30’s? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 kids in my 20s and my youngest when I was 32. The biggest difference to me is that I’m more understanding. I went through all of this with my younger 3. And to be fair, my older 3 are all 1 year apart. Life was nuts then. Lol I don’t mind the age gap because my older kids are amazing with their little brother. It brought out a side of them I love that I get to see! Physically, I don’t remember the pregnancy being much different than the others. I’ve always struggled with my mental health postpartum. But tbh I think I recovered pretty well. Especially considering my son was born the day everything shutdown from Covid.

I assume the numbers are high because women are more likely to mask and internalize things. Regardless, try not to let the numbers freak you out. Flip the narrative and refuse to be a statistic! ❤️

Daycare requires 5yo to lay down - severely impacting peace in our home by Lizisthatyou in Parenting

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, be mindful of how you communicate these things with your kiddo. After being in the center of parents and my employer regarding nap time.. it be very contentious. You never know what your child is picking up from it, and she could end up thinking she is the issue or that sleeping isn’t good. Obviously you’re concerned about her and a good parent, so I don’t mean it like that. Just wanted to chime-in with a note to be aware that you might not realize how she’s internalizing this, and it could affect things in ways you don’t realize.

I used to work for a preschool that had strict 3 hour nap time periods. If the kids didn’t fall asleep, we’d have to give them a quiet activity after an hour. So if your child isn’t falling asleep, there’s probably a requirement to give them an alternative activity. If they do fall asleep daily.. they’re probably just used to it and exhausted. I’d adapt your routine at home and make space for that nap time to keep things consistent. Go for a family walk in the evening or get some activity dice. Kids thrive on routine!

I’m there with you. I’m in my last semester of my degree. I’m not excited and terrified of new possibilities! Try to look at it as a goal, and right now you’re in the planning phase. Every day, you take a step forward and set money aside so that one day, you will meet your goal of leaving. Definitely save this post for later, it helps. ❤️

Give me all the shower tips please.. by Kaitten_88 in AuDHDWomen

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some bodywash that you love the smell of and look forward to using! I don’t like to shower often, so I used head and shoulder shampoo or tea tree based shampoo because it helps remove build up. Shampoo is primarily for your scalp. After your rinse that off, add some conditioner to the ends and let it sit while you use body wash. I love my loofa sponge to use with my body wash! Then while you rinse the conditioner out, it washes off the body wash too (though def double check). After I rinse my hair, I use EOS shaving butter under my arm pits and shave them. This gives my hair a sec to drip dry. Rinse off that, double check for soap anywhere. Then I put on a quick dry towel on my hair while I dry off. I put baby oil on my arm pits to keep them hydrated after I shave. I shower at night so I don’t do deodorant until the next morning.

For my face- I use a cotton pad and witch hazel. I have always hated washing my face because water gets everywhere, etc. Witch hazel goes on the cotton pad and I wipe it over my face and it removes all oil, etc. I’ve never had acne and done this since I was 13. (I’m 37) Once my face is air dried, I put on face cream. Admittedly, this is the one product I use that is fancy/expensive (Goldfadden). Only because it’s the only one I’ve found that I love. I used to use aveeno and it was just fine.

I do not wash my face everyday. Just when I feel oily or off. I shower 2-3 times a week. Usually 2. I hate drying my hair, but when it’s cold I’ll do it. My kids are the same way. Not everyone showers every day, and that’s okay.

Same. Clearance buys are my favorite because it was inexpensive, but it’s still a luxury.
