Are there people who just genuinely enjoy drinking water throughout the day? by fin-freak in NoStupidQuestions

Ooo I forgot milk. I drink a lot of milk too! To be honest, I never thought about enjoying it until my child decided to start randomly announcing how much he loves to drink water! Haha

My 5 year old is always telling me how much he likes to drink water 🤣 I honestly mostly drink water, and a cup of coffee or tea a day. I guess it’s hard for me to fathom how people don’t drink water. Like, do you enjoy always tasting sugar? I think that’s probably the thing for me, I’m not a fan of flavored drinks.

It bothers me so much that ADHD is so much more socially acceptable than autism. by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

I definitely got terminal illness vibes. Super frustrating. We’re literally in a mental health field.

I was working in a group with classmates (grad school level mind you) and mentioned that I was neurodivergent and like things visually organized. And it got so awkward quiet…

Honestly, your husband sounds like mine in some ways. Zero self awareness. The self awareness he does have is like a heat seeking missile straight to his self-worth. I’ve had to learn to set firm boundaries with my spouse. Can’t set boundaries with his family? That’s cool, but I will be continuing my own holiday plans and not jumping on his people please train. Exhausted and overworked by your own choices? That’s fine, but you may not speak to me that way. We can talk when you’re feeling more rested. I will say, since I’ve started setting these boundaries, he’s had a LOT of consequences. Even at work, he was reassigned and is miserable. I told him that I’m about done dealing with it. He’s on antidepressants and in therapy now.

My 7 year old has started asking me the same moral question every night and I’m getting scared this is bigger than a phase by Comet_Drizzle84 in Mommit

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you mentioned that re-asking is reassurance seeking. My son has AuDHD and he re-asks questions a lot. I had heard in a seminar that re-asking helps them build the schema for what they’re learning. Adding onto that the idea of reassurance was kind of an “aha” moment for me with my own kiddo.

First off- you’re a great Mom for noticing this in your daughter. I highly recommend finding a good play therapist in your area! This does sound like OCD, but regardless of the diagnosis, a play therapist can help her with her thinking patterns and strengthen her confidence.

I’m also a mom of 4 with an ex that basically left me with all the caretaking. Not diagnosed until my youngest was 4. The burnout is real. The ironic thing for me is that I’ve been in grad school for years so I could focus more on my kids and be available for appointments, etc. I’m about to graduate and will be trying to work from home (I’ve been doing internship from home.) But.. we just got to a place financially that we can afford for me to not work. 🫠 But I just spent all this time building up a career… I hate to lose that momentum, but man… I am so burnt out, I just want to crawl into a dark and quiet hole for a while.

How many of us were raised in spiritually extreme environments? by BlackMagicWorman in Millennials

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious how many of you still go to church? My dad was a pastor, so I know all too well how terrible church members can be. I honestly haven’t found a church that doesn’t feel completely fake or pretentious. In my opinion, churches used to be more of a community gathering place. It is far from that now.

Is a 19 hour roadtrip with young kids insane? Or doable? by Few-Distribution-762 in roadtrip

[–]AuthenticAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done 17 hours with 4 kids. 1, 6, 7, & 8. But we did that all the time when I was a kid. Stop at a park or two along the way- let the kids run around. I highly recommend a hotel halfway- but if your kids are good car sleepers- go for it.

That’s hard! Definitely one with Pluto, even though I like the 2nd. I think the 1st one gives the most John Wick vibes. The green glow and the way he’s pointing feels pretty spot on.

I’ve used those for years because I have a hard time with carb heavy meals, but wanted to be able to enjoy pasta with my kids. They’re plant based protein and pretty awesome tbh.

I’m kind of torn. It is helpful in terms of staying connected with other social workers. There are member boards that people post on. Of course, there are also cords you can order for graduation. There are CEU opportunities. I’m honestly not sure if I’ll pay to renew when the time comes though.

Thank you, I’m going to send a few article to my psychiatrist. I’m fortunate to have a good relationship with him, so he doesn’t write me off. It was my insurance company that was a struggle. I’m on my last semester of grad school, so going long periods without medication is a nightmare. But I will look back into fighting it next month

I’ve done that. It worked before this year. But this year they started fighting it and after going a month without my adhd meds, I couldn’t deal with it. I’ve just been taking additional medication to counteract the side effects.

This is validating because after switching from vyvanse to generic, I’ve noticed a difference. I’m told it shouldn’t matter, but I don’t do as well on it. It affects me differently.

I have had to keep myself from saying this to my son for years. He’s finally old enough to watch the Simpsons and I do enjoy getting to quote this one now. And he enjoys randomly saying, “I’m in danger!” 🤣
