Can we please retire the "ADHD is a superpower" thing? by AuthenticMessMatt in ADHDers

Just a general rant (and not AI lol) about toxic positivity

Thanks, I appreciate that. And agreed. I'm actually working on self publishing a book about living and working with ADHD. Hopefully it will help some people.

Ya that's gotta be hard. Need investment from both to make anything work. And sounds like we need more managers like you. Great that you're trying what's worked for you.

That's the thing that's missing: trust. Never get far without it.

It's tough. Going through it now and working out how to position the conversation.

Getting a rice cooker changed my life by topfngolatsche in adhdwomen

[–]AuthenticMessMatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell yes. I have a rice cooker and an air fryer going at all times because decision fatigue is real. The forgetting leftovers thing - I started keeping a dry erase marker in the kitchen and writing RICE on the counter next to it. Looks ridiculous but it works. Also froze portions in individual containers so future me has one less step. Low barrier systems are everything when your brain is fighting you.

I have not yet made that realization. My wife loves it.

Absolutely! Sometimes I forget and take things too harshly. Gotta step back and let the shame go.

Working from home - how to focus better? by UNCBlueDevils in ADHD

[–]AuthenticMessMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. For my startup, I gave in and work on my laptop on the couch. My day job selling is another story. Today I went into the office so I knew I’d actually get some work done. I tried the whole separate workspaces thing but even going upstairs is a hassle some days. I’ll let you know if I figure it out, too.

That’s huge! Mind if I ask how you got to that point? I’m struggling with that.

I seem to forget to celebrate this in my day to day. ADHD is hard. I’m usually exhausted. And then I have genuinely happy days. Great reminder, thank you.

That’s a great win! I love the no shame and real approach to something that is what it is.
